From what i understand the P8 generation ECU is capable of running a coilpack with a software mod and the appropriate loom fitting.
Now was this something ford asked to be optional (yet not used) or was it a function used by other cars using the same webber p8 system????
Now being a software function does this mean that a P8 coilpack loom is the same, where as L8 etc the loom depends on the wiring needs of the coilpack driver??
Was this something used in the grpN and other lower spec motorsport ESCOS or did they all go for the higher spec Pectel ECU's????

Coil pack was used on P8's in the Lancia Delta Integrale 16V.
Whether or not the hardware is present in a Ford P8 I don't know.
It was not used for group N. The Group N regulations forbid this.
It was used with Pectel ecu's on group A's and WRC's.

Yes, the architecture for a Lancia P8 and a Ford P8 is the same.
Even most of the pins on the connector are on the same place.
It's the software that's different.

hmmm i cant remember if i have or not, i used it on my last car, you need to add an extra ign amp, and a pin to the ecu, that then gives you the two signals fo rthe wasted spark, pin 26 iirc. i would have to have a look through my archives as i dont use that anymore.

I know you sell all the bits stu, and I'll probably get you to do a coilpack conversion when i finally get the funds to sort a chip (once ive done the more critical things like no suspension, a leaking rad, dead fuel pump and fan wiring, etc
the list keeps growing!).
But im not looking to fit an off the shelf coilpack loom as i doubt it will be the correct lengths for how im building my new engine loom which is going to be custom lengthed for my puma and i want the ign amp wiring, coilpack wiring etc encapsulated into the new loom i build as a complete engine loom.

iv heard that there has been some problems whit high rpm and boost whit the coilpack? im thinking of one but if it wont work great whit my 500hp/8200rpm/2bar boost its money i could have used on other things? And Stu-isnt there a direct fire support in p8? whit 4 coils and no leads?i friend of mine has got this to work whit a p8 and some mods its in a test face now.
