Im looking at upgrading to aftermarket ones but i am unsure which ones to go for!!!

I have used CCN i belive they are called, they have an e-bay shop, i got brand new 300mm ST170 grooved disks front AND back and green stuff pads front and back for just over Ł200 which was a bargain price, they do red stuff and yellow stuff pads. I would reccomend the red stuff, a disk is a disk is a disk not really much difference between disk manufacturers. I would avoid drilled disks though as they get stress cracks around the holes.

right i learnt a lesson here. i bought a full set of cross drilled and grooved discs off e bay. they were cheap compared to the branded names so i thought id give them a go. well, i dont like them, they are noisy and i wouldnt recommend them. do yourself a favour and stick to a good branded name. i dont think you can go wrong the. im using red stuff pads and have no complaints about them wot so ever.

your brakes are important. buy quality and im sure youl be happy. DONT GO CHEAP! LOL

DON'T BUY ANYTHING EBC OR MINTEX!
Best standard set up combo is Brembo discs with Ferrodo DS2500 pads, you cant get better when using the standard brembo calipers. If you want to spend more money get AP 2 piece discs with Ferrodo DS2500 pads, discs cost more but last three times longer than standard discs, they don't warp as easily and they look cool as.

If you want proper brakes, get AP six pots with 362mm 2 piece discs, also with Ferrodo DS2500 pads.

Macca,
You would be best of asking the POLICE this, as EBC YELLOWSTUFF is approved for the traffic cars, but Ferrodo/MIntex are not.
There is nothing wrong with EBC, been using them over 15 years myself, the greens are just too soft for me, REDSTUFF CERAMIC are excellent, but yellows are awsome, I have used all the mintex ones, all the ferrodo DS range, most pagid, mintex are good but soft and very dusty, ferrodo just have no feel, and fade just after they start working at thier best, which takes heat.
To give you an example I gave away a set of mintex 1155 rear pads that had 200 miles on them to Retro Al.
My 1st choice if Yellows then reds(ceramic), I believe at the moment if you buy yellows and then find a better road pad ebc will refund you.
A disc is not a disc, tiny cracks around the holes of drilled ones common, but nothing to worry about, I've had discs split before now with 2mm gap!!, that's why ebc dimple them now, but my advice would be go for grooved, but wide grooved, not the narrow crap.
Another problem I had with the ds pads were constant glazing, this is where the binding agent(glue) comes to the surface, and stops effective braking, grooved discs mostly eliminate this as they constantly scrub/deglaze the pad, so they do wear out a bit sooner, but not enough to worry about.
I ALWAYS take the anti rattle shims from the rear of the ebc pads I use, I have never not once in 15 heard a peep from any ebc pads noise wise.
You may not like ebc, until you try you will never know, butif a bit of a nutter driver wise I'd get yellows otherwise reds.

I've seen many sets of EBC pads delaminate, braking surface comming away from the metal backing.
As for the EBC slogan "dust-less braking", what a load of rubbish! standard ford pads make less mess on your wheels and are renound for being dusty.
Mintex pads, 2 laps of Knockhill and were binned, enough said.
As for the comment about "FERRODO PADS HAVE NO FEEL & FADE" are you mental?
I have NEVER, and i mean NEVER had ANY fade with Ferrodo DS2500 pads in either brembo 4 pots or AP six pots.
Fair enough you have to put a bit of heat in them to get them to work at they're best but its not difficult, slight left foot brake for a couple of seconds is enough.
At the end of the day its your money mate but you buy EBC you'll be pissed off in a couple of months when they are fooked or not as good as you expect.
