Morning all.
What methods are you boys using to smooth out the trim recess at the top of the bumpers, plastic welding or filling & smoothing?
Want to do it on mine and would welcome advice from anyone who has either done it themselves or had it done for them.

its each to thier own really on doing this, but i wouls suggest roughing up the area and applying fibre glass resin to it, then some filler to finish and smooth?

 

id say filler if your doing it yourself

 

If your going to do it yourself fill most of it with fibre glass first then do a thin layer of filler just to get a smooth finish if you just use filler it will sink over time and look gash

mark.

drill dome 4mm holles all over the area u want to fill if ur just usingf filler.........gets in better wont crack

 

mine is done with fibreglass and filler too







only got the front 1 done though not the rear

fibre glass is the way i was always told to do things like this as filler will sink over time thats why if a cars been de-locked badly with just filler you can see where the lock used to be so you should always do the smallest skim you can get away with

mark.

Just a quick thought, what fibreglass & filler should I be using?

 

ust the hairy stuff in the tins mate which you just add hardner to as trying to use the sheets just makes a big mess and involves a lot of sanding i thing its called p40 fibreglass filler hope this helps mate

To many good bumpers being butchered to death now and there thin on the ground.
Smoothed bumpers, clears etc are long gone, so many people going back to standard looks etc.. Just my opinion matey
