speedo stopped working any ideas
any ideas what it will be pulled the clocks out tonight and made sure the cable was on properly that seemed ok also the needle is jumping up and down when touching the fitting at the back of the clock so next thing is either the drive out the back of the box or the cable are these prone to going and are they stil available from fords

my cable snapped just as it goes in the gearbox think its a pretty common thing to go on older cars.
10 min job at the most
think i got my cable from allparts, but the sleeve was diffrent to the ford one that went in the vack of the clocks, still works tho

thanks got a second hand 1 coming of a mate now will be sticking it on in the morning

Turbo tends to melt the cable and things get sticky. This can cause the hassles quite often. If the cable doesn't turn up in time its better to leave it disconnected - from both ends if possible so that it doesn't knacker the gearbox end either... or it won't be an easy fix I'm afraid.
Matt Lewis sells new cables, they are probe to breaking, also it is not unknown for the drive gear to strip, but bought one of these recently from ford, about 6 months ago I think for a 2wd.
