Anyone ever had one of these fail. Finally got the car set up to day after running it back in and went for a spin. Suddenly steam everywhere, turned out to be the cometic water pump gasket has gone porous and water every where

Great, made a right mess of the engine bay, got to get the autosol out again.

 

I've had 2 water pump gasket failers, the block side was completly flat as was the water pump so I just made my own gasket out of really thick gasket paper and put a small smear of gasket sealer on for good measure and i've never had a problem since.

i have just fitted one of them as just put a new thermostat in.. ill keep eye on it now!

 

My cometic has been on and off at least 10 times with testing different stats, not a drop has leaked.
