Default Megasquirt gurus, i need your help !

I cant get a rpm signal. I have tried changing the armoured signal lead, crank sensor, swoped the connections around on the vr and i have also took apart the ecu and turned the screws on the blue boxes to make them more sensitive but still no luck. I have put a volt meter on the actual crank sensor and im getting 400 ohms which is good.

Do you have oscilloscope available? You can crank the car and test the crank sensor signal with scope. It draws that actual thing what cps is producing. What kind of cps setup you have.. edis?

Yeah check your trigger wheel settings, my ECU was suposed to come with a base map for my engine setup and when I looked at it the guy had done sweet FA!! The map was all over the place, my trigger wheel settings completely wrong, EGO set for narrow band when I dont have a O2 sensor at all, etc.. etc....
IMO double check ALL settings!!

If you want, email me the msq and i'll take a look for you. Have you tried to move the sensor a little closer to the flywheel, was this car on efi before? It's unusual not to get anything at all.

Rick.

Thanks for all your help guys. I have found the problem. There was a communication error when building the ecu. I thoughti was running coildrivers which i thought i asked for but infact it is setup to run EDIS. I have tried several scrap yards around here but they have not got any. Has anybody got a spare one they wish to sell?

I started the projuect a few months ago hoping to have enough time to get it ready for USC at santa pod next friday. Now the time has come where i have no edis and the car is booked in for a MOT on wednesday. The best bit is i only have a base map for a 2.0 zetec but im running 1600 cvh.

Mate, i wouldn't run EDIS. More to go wrong, no spark rev cut etc.

Buy one of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4-x-Coil-Drive...3A1%7C294%3A50

It's a fully current limited 4x coil driver (you only need 2, but this can run COP if you want in the future) in a nice waterproof box. Very easy to wire, just needs a couple of wires soldering inside the ECU.

Rick.

I found a edis at a scrap yard which i will be running for now but im looking at fitting the coil drivers which was my prefered choice. Im now picking up a crank signal but the ECU is not reading it. Can anybody tell me the settings to run the EDIS to make sure they are correct in my megatune.................RICK.......

Yes, but you still need coil drivers!

Either a faulty unit which is possible, or he's doing something wrong, it's a nice well designed unit.

Juffer - have you wired up the edis to the ECU etc?

yes mate. The PIP and SAW wires are connected. I have just remembered that i did not connect the shield wire coming of the PIP and SAW lead. Would this make a lot of difference?

as said, i'm tuning my map on my 1.8zvh, takes a while to get it idling right, and then you need to datalog the megatune.
Make sure you've got a wideband setup fitted and wired into the ecu, it'll help with live mapping and getting things spot on.
i can send you a map i'm using just to get you started, basically mapped to get idling so far as i had to start from scratch when laptop only partly flashed the ecu and died.
