Default Family Tree

Right,

Passionford has a broad knowledge base so I thought best place to try would be here.

Was round at my mums last night and she was watching Chris Moyles - Who do you think you are? Got us talking about our family. My mum and her mothers family are all from London and have a very interesting history. We'd like to get all the details collated together while we still can, and my mum and other relatives are still alive and still able to remember.

Has anyone on here done this before, proper serious like. Researching old census and birth/death certificates etc?

Can anyone recommend any good Family Tree Software, either to buy or get from internet?

My mum is going down to London in September to see some old relatives and ideally we'd like to get some stuff together for her to take down.

Cheers
SMG

I started doing mine around 7 months ago. I havnt t be honest gone into the english side due to the expense required. What i mean by this is, that me mums side is all scottish. It costs me around Ł6 for so many credits of which i can access and print off original brith.death.marriage certificates. So far i am back to around 1670

On the english side of things its not so easy-it costs Ł10 for each certifictae and it may be a wrong connection, hence why im searching more of my scottish side.

I am willing tohelp you in any way that i can but for the mean time, take a look at all these links, of which ill alos include all the scottish links just in case you have any of that side.

You may find my post on this website of interest in terms of where i am at http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index...511#msg2534511

"Family Tree Maker" is the software he uses mate, but there are lots out there and the best constantly seems to change so have a look at the comparisons and reviews.
