At the risk of sounding like a chav

Are these cars not that impressive in a straight line? My friend had a play with one in a Focus ST (standard) and wasn't any slower than the RS?

Now i know there are many factors - RS dude can't drive etc etc, but has anyone actually been in one? one thats had a few miles done so its loosened up a bit?

Asking because i'm toying with the idea of getting one at some point.

 

Both cars anre fundamentally the same, should weigh a similar amount. They both have what is essentially the same engine, but one is in a greater state of tune (nearly 80BHP more, and whatever torque), AND has better suspension and such like to help get the power down quicker.

HOW can one not be noticably faster than the other?

The RS is a lot quicker and more able. They're surprisingly different cars, and although I've a lot of time for the ST,in my opinion the RS is in a different class!

 

iv had an st and tuned it to 308bhp and that felt the same as the new rs but the rs is loads ahead in the handling stakes as standard...nice every day car...

 

Thats what i was hoping you'd say, i don't see how the RS can possibly be slower! My friend was surprised and to be honest disappointed. RS driver must just have been shit, he asked the ST driver if his car was chipped lol

 

maybe if its a bad one with very low miles the power will be quite a bit below 300bhp!?

then a shite driver to make it even slower!?

 

Been in Both and can honestly say the RS will Ruin the ST without a doubt. 80bhp+ increase and Revoknuckle doesn't mess about. In first gear it may not feel as quick but thats because the Torque has been limited in the first gear from destroying the Box. Come 2nd gear and the fucker is on its way.

 

Perhaps the RS driver was stilll running it in?

 

theres a huge debate goin on on the focus stoc at the minute. apparantly the mountune'd focus's are as quick/quicker. however when mountune release an upgrade for the RS there will be no comparrisson

 

My mate sold his 269 bhp at the wheels ST to buy his new RS. He says his ST was quicker, but the RS is better to drive

 

If you have a look in the new EVO magazine there's a back to back test of a Mountune ST and new Focus RS. The ST is slightly quicker in a straight line.

I carnt see how the ST w2as quicker than the RS.
