use a breaker bar with an extension put it in gear and then get some1 to put foot on the brakes and hang off the bar had to do this many times it will eventually loosen.

also soak it in penetrating fluid 24hrs before and this should also help

Ive heard of people putting a breaker bar on it wedged against the floor, then turning the car over on the starter, never tried it myself though.
IMPORTANT: Make sure its on the floor the right way around so its locked off!

Yeah you would be best off to hold onto the bar even though its wedged on the floor, to stop it coming forwards, and get someone else to crank it

I think one of the major problems is that when you try to loosen it in 1st gear is that there is so much movement on mounts etc and engine twisting before it actually puts force on the bolt it is limited by this in the force applied.
I always put the car in 5th gear, and do from above, with rad pipes etc out of way(if convenient) you can get more swing, use extension just to make easier, I use this on my 4 foot ratchet a 3 foot extension, but so I have about 5 1/2 feet in total.
