xr4x4 2.9 what year did they put hyd lifters in
when they put cats on the engines mate
so you've got a mix and match, but they started to do them in about 90 with them becoming more and more common as a granda engined version
the sierra's didn't get them until they were supposed to have them as i don't think they were required by law to have them and were only "optional" at the factory
if the engine otyu are looking at is post 92 though it would most likely to have had hydrualics in it
they are crap though for anything performance wise so most cam kits will come with solids you can adjust

what it is,is i rebuilt my engine did a t/t conversion on,the engines both came out of a sierra but the block was out of a k reg and i used the stage 3 heads on it when i rebuilt it just that ive got realy noisey tappets even after adjusting them 3 times so i was thinking id put a hyd block on mech heads and that
you may need to pull the heds off again to pull the tappets out mate
migth be that the cams fucked or that you've adjusted hydraulic tappets which don't adjust
try to set them back to factory and see what happens but it might mean that you'll have to at least fork out for a new cam and tappet set up

no worry its ok spoke to specialized engines this morning he said they are the same the only diffrence is the cam and the fowlers are diffrent the heads and rockers are the same he said i need to adjust the tappets for hydraulic tappet settings they are preloaded so slightly diffrent to mechanicalim sure my block was out of k reg which would make it hydraulic cam plus it was running lambdas aswell so i just need to find out how to do the hydraulic settings
