Default help with wiring to fuel pump relay please

got another s2 but has a bit of bother starting, cant hear fuel pump when turn ignition on although it does prime when cranking but takes ages to fire up.

here's the wires to relay:

i read somewhere that to bridge it, i would put red/black to red/black but these seem to be joined together at the moment? Is it possible an old alarm was wired through this as there is wiring for it through the bulkhead but not still fitted?

cheers for any help, i just need to bride it to get car running.

Ross

Sounds like the fuel pump relays knackered Ross, sometimes they prime but dont run when cranking or in your case, dont prime but run whilst cranking.

open it up and closely inspect all the solder joints! usualy crack.

to bridge the relay to make the pump run constantly with ignition (NOT RECOMMENDED for anything other than testing !!) get a piece of fairly thick piece of fused wire and bridge pins 87 & 30.

HTH.

Hmm, it shouldnt do it without the key. It should only go constantly when you turn the key to position 2, as I said ONLY for testing dont run about with it bridged.
