Couldn't find the " Newbie " bit so ........
Hi guys ,
Name is Simon and living in High Wycombe with my wife and 7 year old daughter ( both massive drains on the resources )
Have been into Performance Fords ever since I was old enough to take an interest - it's deffo true what they say - " families were either a Ford family or a Vauxhall family back in those days " 30 ( odd ) years ago !
Grew up around older mates with Mk2 Escorts both normally aspirated pintos and cossie powered RS2's ( " The Green " was kinda infamous around our way ! ) and then made the natural move into S1's , S2's , 3dr RS500's and also Sapphire and Escort Cossies ( had my first Escort Cossie at 23 for a " company smoke " )
Grew up amongst the " Lakeside , Southend , Guildford , Chelsea " cruises and long for those days to return again for the next generation - sadly that culture is moving across to big bhp blown Jap stuff built for " drifting " and now moving away from the " proper " old school Ford nuts - guess that;s what they call evolution LOL
About 8 years ago I managed to locate a fairly tidy late registered ( think it came across from Germany at some point but was RHD ) Mk2 RS2 custom in white from a guy in Basingstoke but it was kind of a rolling resto for him so I " relieved " him of the burden . Almost a year to the day I sold it to a young lad from Watford way and that was the worst day of my life !! - Purchased for £2000 and sold for £3000 ( a reasonable profit in the day ) but now wish I had still got the old girl , not just for the money but mainly for the feeling you get from old school Fords ( and the noise and smell LOL )
Pals have still got their toys ( one with a 600 bhp AC Cobra / Southern Roadcraft which is still yet to hit the street/strip . The same guy has a 3dr Mk2 Cortina under a tarp just waiting to be attacked ) . I currently have a 2 wheeled toy ( Aprilia Tuono R ) but it is up for sale to fund another Performance Ford ( either Cossie 3dr/Saph or something old skool but with Cossie power ) that I have promised myself before I get to 40 ( fortunately got 6 more years to save up LOL ) Also looking for a Mk4/5 Cortina to " fiddle with " in the meantime ( for a zetec / duratec conversion )
Anyway - awsome site with ( what appears to be ) a good bunch of people and loads of knowledge so am looking forward to getting involved .
Will stop boring you all now - see you " sideways "
Simon
