Got a question regarding a turbo on a saff 2wd , the turbo has started to howle an odviously will need changing/reconditioning , If the car is still used an the turbo does decide to shit itself is there any chance it could damage the engine ? Or will any bits just fly straight out of the exhaust ?

 

Depends on what part of the turbo is lettin loose. If there is some with the compressor side, then there is a chance to get some parts into the engine...

 

as above, when the you get more play on the compressor side the compressor wheel rubs against the compressor housing so obviously you get metal filings and swarf through the inlet side into your engine, not nice!

 

Simply not worth the risk of using, as engine build much more than turbo rebuild.
