Default Our poor cat

Sitting at home with the other half, heard the cat come in, crying his head off, so went to feed him, usual drill is he comes in crying cos he's hungry, only he's halfway up the stairs by now, dragging one of his back legs. Managed to get hold of him, half his leg is minus skin, right down to the bone, hardly any flesh left either, but hardly any blood, or bleeding. The vet said he's been run over, would have thought he'd have more injuries than that if he had, but thats by the by.
Was thinking just the other day, that we're lucky, neither the cat or the dog cost us any money, then this... And they're not insured either.

Poor little cat What's the moggy had done so far? Been in for an op?

I was saying exactly the same thing only last week then --this-- happened.

Keep us updated on moggies progress - fingers crossed for him.

My sisters cat got hit by a car, lost one eye and a vet bill for just short of £1500.00 made me insure mine.

Thats the problem, the cost. They're talking in the region of 2k, money we just haven't got. If we did have, it'd be no questions, we'd pay it. He needs ongoing treatment. Worse part coming up, someone got to tell her kids, 8yr old girl and 10yr old boy, that their cat might have to be put to sleep. The 3yr old doesn't really understand yet. Great birthday present for the 10yr old,

If the leg's in a bad way just get them to amputate it, cats cope fine fella. Better than having the poor mite put to sleep.

Mrs Capricougar say put it on the credit card and worry about it later! I would go for the amputation, my cat Ben had his tail amputated (as seen on Animal Rescue Squad) at a cost of 330 quid, he's absolutely fine, and I have heard that a cat can manage with only three legs

Its not just the one leg, the other back leg he's missing quite a lot of his paw. They said they could amputate the seriously f*cked leg, and try and sort his paw and damage to other leg, but they doubt his other leg would survive, the amount of suffering he's been thru today, and he'd have to go thru in future, with the possibility of not making a full recovery, it wouldn't be fair to put him thru it. We've been to say goodbye to him, he's heavily sedated, and out of it. I sat with him when they gave him the shot, stroked him til the end.

That's it mate, people dismiss cats so quickly, but when you have one they're awesome little buggers.

To be honest, i wasn't much of a cat person until i had to live with one, always been a dog person. But having lived with this little chap, he kinda grew on me, going to miss the little things he did, like creep under the duvet at night. I think the mutt going to miss him as well.
Stroking him at the end tho, felt proper gutted, but couldn't let the little chap fall asleep on his own.

Sorry to hear this

I took our cat (which I picked out of the litter at 4 years old) to the vets to be put to sleep when I was about 20....and I cried like a little baby.

Cats become so much like part of the family and I so miss having the little shit around. He was such a playful boy. Thankfully we do have another kitty who is my little princess and is spoiled rotten and has the run of the house

I couldn't put a price on my little cat. I've had her about 14 years and she means the world to me. A couple of years back she was poorly and peeing blood and I thought I was gonna lose her, I was heartbroken. Several hundred pounds later she was fixed and back to her old self. Happy days.

one our cat's got stuck in a lobster creel a few week's back. this is him after a few day's at the vet's.

his leg had the circulation cut off. were not sure how long he was in the creel. he was missing for 2 day's tho. he had a check up last wee and the new's was'nt good.

this is him now.

it's amazing how quickly he's adapted to loosing his leg. he's desperate to get back out side as he's been inside for about a fortnight now. the stitches come out on friday so we might let him out then. i'm kinda scared to let him out now tho..the vet's bill was'nt excactly cheap..

Mrs Capricougar again - gutted for you, I have been through it myself eight times, one of my babies (Zak) was put to sleep five weeks ago and I miss him so much, he was almost 13, he had his colon removed 5 years ago, and although it has been hard work for me, he was worth every effort I put in to keep him happy, the op cost me several hundred pounds but I would do it again tomorrow should any of my remaining three need it. I know it's one of the hardest things we have to do, making a decision to have someone you love put to sleep, but its the most kindest thing we can do for them when the time has come, I know you have made the right decision for your pets sake, you are the one left to grieve, I could have kept Zak alive for longer, but for his sake I made that very painful decision to end his pain, and I know it was most definately the right thing to do.

One of my three remaiing cats has been missing since Saturday morning, he hasn't been missing for this long before, but I let him have his freedom and just hope that he will return soon?

Thinking of you.

Tracey

I was nearly in tears reading that. Our cat lives indoors, she wanders out now and again into our garden or next doors but that's it. We don't live near a main road neither which is lucky.

Gutted for you, I'd before stick in on a credit card and worry about it later.

We had a cat called murphy we rescued from a kitten, the woman was feeding him tuna in oil from when he was born so to say he was very poorly and had the shits was an understatement. We spent a fortune at the vets putting him right.

A few months later he came in one day with a limp, took him to the vets and he'd either been kicked of tapped by a car as the ball socket of his back leg had snapped off his leg.

Got that fixed after keeping him in a giant cage in the living room for 2 months and he coped very well and finaly got him running about again.

Just before christmas last year one of the lads from the pub knocked at the door and said my cats lying on the path down the street and he has been for a while, I ran out the door and there he was 100 metres from my front door I picked him up but he was a gonna, still warm.

He'd been hit by a car, he looked fine but he'd obviously had internal injuries.

I know everyone says it but he was truely the friendliest cat you could ever meet, everyone in the village knew him and he could always be found across the road climbing trees. We ended up spending probably around 4k in all which we couldn't afford but I'd do it again now just to know he'd had a good life.

:-( RIP Murphy

awwww what a shame, im totally in tears lol. I have 3 cats, 2 of which are rescue cats. Mt latest cat teenie has a blown pupil in one eye and noe tail, her jaw doesnt sit right and she only has one incisor tooth. All that from being hit by a car, i dont have insurance but think i should get it, i couldnt put any of mine down n would end up being bankrupt if i ever had to get them fixed at the vets. to get my pedigree cat groomed and shaved (doesnt let u brush her) at the vets costs me £150 a time!!

If we'd had the means, either credit card, or whatever, we'd have paid it. But in hindsight, we done the right thing, he would have lost a leg straight away, with the very real possibility he'd have to lose the other back leg in future, not fair to put him thru that suffering.
I'm not convinced tho that he was hit by a car, at least not while he was moving. The state of his back legs, one near enough stripped of flesh and fur on one side, his other one very raw, but no injuries anywhere else, neither external or internal, just doesn't add up. If it wasn't an accident, then there's some sick fuckers out there. We live in a quiet road, whenever he went out we only used to see him out the front or stalking the birds in neighbours gardens.
Missed him last night, and poor dog missed him as well,
