Floor fitters?
We are going to be fitting laminate flooring to our hallway but not sure how to work out sq metres.
The hallway is 3.5ft wide and 24ft long can anybody translate that in to sq metres, obviously we will need a bit extra for mistakes etc
cheers

3.5ft is 1.07m
24ft is 7.3m
so around 8 square metres

25.60 M2
plus 10% for waste/cuts
gives you 28.16 M2
So buy 30 M2 and you will be fine.
(ps: you cant really write 3.5ft as an imperial measurement, should be 3'6")
I take it you have thought about this, but if its possible lay it with the skirting removed.
Leave about a 1/4" gap for expansion (about 10mm) and relay skirting.
Theres nothing worse than seeing laminate with those horrid corner edgine strips on the skirting!
Also try and do a 3 stage stagger, to give a bit better detail. This is the mistake most DIYers make buy just laying it in strips.

Instead of measuring it in feet then converting it, why not measure it in metres?

24 feet is roughly 8 metres ans 3.5 feet is about 1 metre so id go for 8x1 and 8 square metres.

yeah i put 25 sq metres (worked out by 3.5' being roughly 1m, then multiplied by 24ft giving 25 sq metres... what the fucks that all about
)
then edited it to say "ignore that i read it wrong", then worked it out properly and edited it again
whats your excuse?

True... but 1m is a little smaller than 3 1/2ft hence the 25sq m instead of 24sq m
either way it was still a schoolboy error

might be a daft question but a joiner we had in doing some work said we could use our existing carpet underlay for the laminate
Its an expensive carpet with decent underlay just wanted to ask first.
