Default What do you think would be faster?

Tomorrow I'm going to Shakespeare raceway in my mates R33 Skyline GTR and my mate is taking his Suzuki TL1000. The Skyline is the one I'm using for time attack and it produced 542bhp at the hubs a couple of weeks ago which means 600 odd at the flywheel.

Car (now minus the aero parts)

Bike

I know we can't run head to head which is a shame but which one do you think would be quicker up the 1/4 mile? I have a feeling I need to feed him up first

That's what I'm thinking, maybe I'll have a piss in his tank when he's not looking

What does the bike do a 1/4 in? He's never done a 1/4 mile run before.

The bike will probably take the win, but the skyline looks amazing

tlr's are rapid machines and if he's got anything else fitted you will be in trouble.
Standard maybe a chance imo

I think it's just got different cans on it and that's it. It'll be interesting anyway

Skyline does look good doesn't it Really looks the part now It looks naked without the rear spoiler, splitter and canards now though lol

I did Silverstone a couple of weeks ago and I'm doing Brands Hatch which is 2 weeks tomorrow. Tomorrow I'm competing the SDS drag series in it and I have an afternoon session booked at Brands Hatch on the 23rd The owner is running it at japshow at Santa Pod next Sunday

Hopefully Brands hatch will be better than Silverstone because I will have had some time behind the wheel by then and I did about 10 laps of Brands Hatch in it last year Last year it didn't have an oil cooler though so you could only do one flying lap at a time lol

Theoretically, the car will be able to outbreak and take the corners faster than the bike, BUT then the bike will make up any lost ground on the straights... so should be pretty close i would of thought!

depends, surely to someone a bit timid of full on launching the bike the car will winm because its not as scary to full on launch,

but if hes got big bollocks on the bike then itll be a close race

The skyline ran a 10.9 with full interior and steel panels but probably more power so it'll be interesting Now it is lighter it would be nice to still be there but we are expecting a low 11 Quickest car I've run up the quarter mile was a r33 skyline with 365bhp and that did a 12.9 lol

He has only had the bike a few months and sadly binned his last TL in a big way so he's quite cautious I'd say. I think it'll be fun to put a bet on it with him

A mate of mine on a gsxr600 has done an 11.2 qtr at the pod so i'd deffo say, as a couple of people above have that if he can launch the nike hard he'll do a pretty good time.....your time will also depend on how well you launch imo!

if driver and riders skill level for their machines are the same, then only power - wheight and traction can guestimate it for you. Id bet on the bike tbh.

I don't think my mate will launch it hard because it's his first time and I won't launch hard either because it's not my car and I don't do straight lines lol

Really easy for that bike to end up doing 12s with even a moderately competant rider, getting the best out of bikes on the quarter is something not many people can do well.

So I reckon as its his first go, the car will beat him as thats relatively easy to get more or less spot on I would imagine.

The grunty v twin in the TL will help to get it off the line very very quickly , if he's a competent rider he will be able to keep it pinned and do a decent time although not as quick as some people on here think . If on the other hand the rider is spooked by a light front wheel (quite a few are) he will back off and end up in the high 11s if he's lucky.

i,m with chip on this one

Based on a friend off mine´s r33 gtr with about 650bhp, then the skyline cause that bike takes a MAN to launch off the line, and then the skyline will easy win
