F40 faster 0-60 than anything else here... BOLLOX!!!0-60 in 3.2????? Does he just make these figures up???
Great cars but they were NEVER that fast as standard... In fact the new BABY Ferrari, the F430 is faster accelerating
The Macca F1 would MONSTER an F40
That Enzo was sooooooooooo sexy though

Porkie, i havent seen any numbers for the 430 (which i think looks the dogs like a cheaper enzo) where you see them too?

True, it was 4 secs, but the F40 does have something about it that does stand apart from every other Ferrari built. The Enzo is a simply stunning car however

Its supposed to be this great drivers car but I've read recently that this is a load of crap... I have never driven one so can only quote what I have read and heard from other people so this is NOT my opinion. I can only comment on the way the cars look really 
EVO magazine did a back to back test of the great Ferraris. The 288 GTO, F40, F50 and the Enzo. They drove them back to back for 3 days on roads and tracks as I remember.
It was expected that the F40 would be the greatest car ever as its soo pure and thats what everyone has always written and that the F50 would be the worst as it was poo.
In fact when they took their preconceptions and the cars 'reputations' out of the equation, they found the Ferrari F40 to have a shit laggy crap Turbo engine that lacked character and a silly underdeveloped twitchy chassis. AND much to everyones shock, The F50 was the clear winner!!! with the Enzo and the 288 in second and third.
Great article... I REALLY don't know how much of this is true as sadly I haven't driven either
, BUT all those guys at EVO magazine do know their shit...

lee, clarkson is a total pleb for sure, i didnt know if what he said was right or wrong and frankly i didnt care, i was simply looking forward to a lap with the stig in it and he only went and took that modern day ferrazer instead

F40 is the daddy, plain n simple! - i would have one over ANY other car on this planet.
Autocar has a mention of the Evo FQ400, and also theres an Evo IX coming out too.

The F40 is my fave (but then again it is my No 1 DREAM motor!)... but yeah the car progs (esp Top Gear over the last eight months or so) really do talk complete bollocks.
Was quite impressed last night that it actually contained some CARS though, been the first time in ages they haven't filled the programme with odd things just BARELY car related.

Dont no why Clarkson said F40 will get to 60 in 3.2 seconds, strange thing to say. Usually quoted at 3.8 seconds. Standard car has 478 bhp, but noone in uk has ever officially tested the F40. Nick masons car, which was the car featured on top gear on sunday night, has been in loads of car magazines, Autocar tried and failed to get the 0-100-0 mph record in 1992 with that particular car, but failed because of damp tarmac. I remember Fast lane magazine tested same car again, and recorded a 0-100mph time of under 8 seconds, which is comparable to the XJ220. In fact the power to weight ratio of the F40 is superior to the XJ220, so theres little between them really, both great cars. The F40 when new was offered with different cams and two larger blowers this was quoted to give 650 bhp but ive never seen such a car ever tested or featured anywhere.

Surely the fact clarkson has driven all the above cars in anger has some bearing on what he said about the F40?. Maybe the figure was for Nick Mason's own car?, is it modified?. The fact it has a better PTW ratio than an xj220 must make it feel seriously rapid. I can easily imagine that an F40 would feel faster than an F1 up to say 100mph with the hit of the blowers against a more linear power delivery of normal aspiration.
