Default Converting a sierra to 5 stud

Has anyone done this before and if so how exactly did you go about doing it ?

The car is a Sierra GL with a 24v Cosworth engine, it runs the full 5 stud Granada setup on the back but the front is still 4 stud as apparently the Granada stuff isn't a straight swap over.

I have heard some hubs off a xr4x4 are needed but not sure if that is correcr or not so wouldn't mind knowing for sure before trying to source any parts for the job.

Any advice would be appreciated

I've just had a search around on PF and found that info too, I'd guess they are rare though and something else must do the job.

Why not re-stud a 4 stud to 5 stud, by doing the hub flange itself, any decent machine shop could do this easy enough.

the granada cosworth uses the same brakes as a 4wd cosworth except the discs are 5 stud

so id imagine you would need to use the shocks off a granada aswell

This is the thing, its been mentioned that the 4x4 Granada hubs are the ones to use but no mention about what damperes you need to run which is why I thought maybe XR4x4 ones would be better as I'm guessing they accept a 2wd leg ?

As you have got one you can maybe answer that for me though

I have been told the XR4x4 and Granada Cosworth uses the same wheel bearing which is another reason I imagine they are interchangable.

i dont own a xr4x4 anymore, i own a mondeo st24 and a escort cosworth

but the xr4x4 uses the same diameter shock as a 4wd cosworth so would be the same as a granada id imagine

only thing is im not to sure if the granada shock is taller or not or the size of the springs used as these could differ, but the diameter that goes into the hub is the same
