Default s2 howling on boost

Anyone got any ideas on to why my rs turbo would be howling when coming on to boost?

It also seems to be lacking power now and takesa while for the howl to get louder for the car to finally read positive boost pressure on the gauge and then actually go anywhere?

starts on the flick of a key and runs and idles fine

bit confused with this

any ideas?

cheers

I've got this problem- been trying to sort it for ages now!
i've made my boost better, more solid by replacing pipes, both vacuum and boost but still got it!
my radiator is off for a recore and there gonna pressure test my intercooler while there at it- should know on monday if thats the problem.
for reference i've replaced my turbo/manifold aswell as my turbo was smoking a bit and it made no difference just gave me more of a boost spike before it starts howling due to the turbo being in better condition lol.

thats an interesting theory dave, we were on the motorway of recent and heard some rattle ping sound as far fetched as it maybe, thought it was a stone against the stainless steel exhaust under the car.

so u think a fin could of flown off?

the problems did seem to be apparent after that aswell. We parked up left freinds hit the motorway and found it to be howling.

what was the cause for it flying off? heat

Usually its due to a bent fin on the front or rear compressor wheel in the turbo

You just get the howling noise usually, not loss of power though. But if ione of the wheels are badly damaged then i suppose you would lose power.

A couple of my mates have had this problem, justmy opinion from experiance

U can check the front blade by removing the turbo boost hose and having a look inside the front of the turbo housing

Checking the rear blade is alot harder as you have to remove the turbo or rear housing
