Default FAO ADMIN - A question about me and helping people on here

Hello,

Please can someone give me an official answer to the following please.

Before anyone says otherwise, I am not trying to cause trouble.
I just want to participate in the enlightenment of others in cosworth ECU technology etc. and maybe learn a few things myself too !
I am not here to make money in any way shape or form.

Given that I wasnt allowed to publicise or give away free software I wrote myself on this site even though I made it 100% clear it was free and that I would never ask for reward for it......

Am I allowed to start threads relating to and/or discuss about weber cosworth ECU's/mapping/firmware/methods etc... ?

I believe there are many users on here who would like to know about such things about the finer details of the inner workings of these little "black boxes" above and beyond the basics.

Thanks in advance

if the software was infact free with open source always available then i can not see any issues with it, you could of course host this on your own website but feel that the rules allowing free distribution including source code have to always be available, also any updates including variations on it have to even if you discover some miracle new way of mapping cars. also i beleive you have already had this discussion with the admin on here so why resurect the topic ?

if you have the correct information and construct your articles in such away that there are no infringments on interlectaul copyright, actual copyrights or publishing of confidentual information the so long as its in the correct area there should be no problems.
if the topics move away from your original idea in anyways as to slander, or disrepute any trading company then they will be removed.

alternatly why not do your write up and allow the admin to verify that there are not going to be any issues with anything and go from there.
as to be honest i expect there are going to be some issues due to the possible depth that you could go into .

im sure that my answering is just speculative and a ruling would have to be decided by the website admin team rather than the moderators and have flagged this topic for their attention.

please do not use this reply in anyway to use it as a decision from the passionford.com webteam but just as a curtious reply to your orig comments.
thank you for your time and i hope you get a reply to this as soon as possible.

Guys, Thanks for the replies.

Pete,

This question wasnt to do with my software but as you mentioned it...
There are plenty of programs out there that are free to use where the source code isnt available. Like for example Internet explorer !
I never understood why this was an issue on PF even when I clearly stated it was free to download and use by absoultely anyone.
You didnt even have to register it in anyway. !!!!

All my information is gained by myself personally from pure experience before I ever became a trader.
I have no need to copy or infringe anyones work.

In fact, it is the chip tuners who have copied and adapted original weber programs and make profit from this without permission from the original manufacturers.
I dont see these people selling these types of "pirated" products on PF being penalised in any way so why should I be for just explaining how these things work in detail !!

As for slander or disreputing any company I have never done anything like that on this site or anywhere else and will not do so in the future.
If anything, I have promoted and helped such companies often without acknowledgement of any kind !

The articles/threads I wish to write will involve discussion so they wont be written in one fair swoop but a section at a time.
This way, all my work wont be wasted should anyone gets the hump and decide to delete it all from the start.

I will wait for a few days in the hope that the admin adds his 10p worth to this thread, if not I will start a topic at the weekend in the tech room

Thanks
