rs turbo reshell
hi lads thinking of reshelling my rst s2 as it needs a bit of work on rear arches and inner wings and a complete paint job so i have located a mint 1300 3dr shell just woundering is there much difference between the rst shell and a normal 1300 shell strenght wise and is it worth seem welding the 1300 shell first as i dont want it to split in half like most rst
Trending Topics
if the new shell is totally mint i would personally go down that route, i have had one myself years ago that was rotten and spent countlees hours welding, grinding, welding, grinding etc etc
always regret not reshelling it, would have been cheaper as well i reckon

If you are using an ID from one shell and passing that ID off for another shell im pretty sure thats ringing however you look at it - the ID isnt for that car FACT. Unless the shell is brand new and unregistered.
This is why people selling ID plates and paperwork on ebay have the listing deleted.
If im wrong then do please explain exactly how.

Im not doing it to make a few bob its for my own use and the new shell isnt stolen and having a new id. it came without any id so im using the only one iv got if i do come to sell i will be totally honest with any one interested in it. It becomes illegal when you steel a car and change its id then sell it on knowing full well its dodgy.

I know when i buy a car i would want it to be correct, im sure many other people are the same. I dont think you'd find it easy to sell if you were honest with a potential buyer no matter how mint the car is.
Just my opinion.
Oh, if it didnt come with any ID how do you know its not been stolen at some point?

I'm with you KidRS, if it were me I'd do exactly the same thing, at the end of the day what real difference does it make to anything?? The car is safe and not stolen so how does swapping the ID plate's make any real world difference.............. it doesnt!

But like I said what effect does that really have on anything?
If he somehow found out his shell was stolen would he return it to the rightful owner? Would you? Would anyone?..... Would the owner want his shell back...... 'here you go mate I belive this belongs to you?!!............. errrr thanks Pal
!!'
lol
It really doesnt matter does it?

Dunno, yeh fuck it lets all build cars and sell them on to people as genuine motors im sure the DVLA wont mind

I know this goes on and i know you will never stop it, but i would hate to buy a car and then a few years down the line discover the car/shell was stolen and now the car i paid £1000's for is now only worth £100's as its a base model shell/stolen and no one wants to buy it.
Each to their own, im happy with my conscience

cheeRS Karlos no one would be able to trace the true id of it anyway as iv had to replace the one floor pan which has the chassis number on. Oh and yes it is a base model shell non sunroof.
PMSL!
If it was a 2009 Focus RS then fair play!!
If you're gonna reshell, do it properly and legally and save yourself hassle in the future - from the police, dvla and any potential buyer.
kid-rs: If it's not a gen S1 shell then it's a replica no matter what numbers are on it. Therefore it isn't worth gen S1 money even if built to a very high standard (which I'm sure it will be). There's plenty of info on the DVLA website on re-shelling if you need it.
slim-jules. Depends on you really and whether you want a proper RS or a replica. Restoring your S2 may cost you more, but it will always be a proper RS S2 if you go that route. If you can't find the DVLA info let me know &I'll point you in the right direction for you to read over and make your own choice.
