Default powerflex top mount.sorted now thanks folks.

any of you guys fitted powerflex strut top mounts.i got some through but not too happy with the way they fitted.there were four sections to them, two per strut.one underneath on the suspension top mount and another above the strut itself.tho i found this pic of someone selling a set and they look a copy of the standard ones and not the ones i fitted, they are the two top items in the pic obviously.can someone confirm please.

I hear alot of adverse opinions of 'other' top mounts, mine has run Powerflex ones for years without any dramas.

The Powerflex ones are 2-piece, if they are those you have, I can't see why you'd have a problem?

The best top mounts I have seen are the Escort Cosworth ones. Yes, they are a direct fit to mk3/mk4 escort, they are available from Ford, and they are some three times harder than the standard rubbery ones.

One part goes on the top of the Strut assembly and once it's in place, you can only see a 'collar' peeping through the hole. Then the top part locates into that, but most of that is covered by the metal strut-top.

I'll take some closer pics tomorrow when I am working on the car.

yeh thats right mate the bottom bush was spot on as described.the top bush had a collar one side and was flat on the other side fitted it flat side at the bottom to meet the collar that was sticking up through.i will take one of tommorow and post some pics up.that will make it clearer.

I'm sure from memory that the wider flat part of the top bush goes inside the metal strut top. But I also seem to recall there really only being one obvious way?
