ack the front of the car up go underneath you can see the bonnet catch well the back of it look past the turbo etc get a metal bar or stick like a jack bar and hit it lightly it should pop open you will probobly find you have to highten the bonnet at the front just unscrew the rubber things at the front of the bonnet

I couldn't get the catch to work properly when i raised the bonnet and had exactly the same problem as you as it makes the bonnet catch sit at the wrong angle, i had to get someone to pull the bonnet towards the front of the car whilst operating the lever to get it freed! A set of bonnet pins sorted that problem out though

Bit worrying drilling bloody great holes in the bonnet etc but as long as you measure everything twice then it's fine lol. You should be able to get a set easily, most accessories websites/shops do them, bout a tenner for basic stainless ones (what i've got). I have got a set of aerocatches too but bottled out of fitting them for now...

The other way of doing this is to simply unbolt the bonnet catch, then place a 10mm nut (like ones on your battery) on each thread of the bonnet catch screws so that the 10mm nut sits between the catch and the bonnet. This alters the angle and allows the bonnet to open naturally
