Default finally had enough

so clutch went last week and though ok just one of those things it was running 185bhp on a standard clutch so i got an ap paddle clutch of which a massive thank you to chris aka b16 cvh top bloke and the clutch is fantastic.

got it fitted saturday by a mate who also noticed a few problems along the way one being the turbo return pipe to the sump had torn away
so comre sunday i fixed this whilst also noticing the alternator belt had ate itself. so fixed that aswell on the way so went for a drive when i noticed that the engine was ticking and wouldnt boost so tried limping it slowly to my mates when it died.pulled over and the starter wouldnt turn even thos there was lots of power in the battery eventually the starter turned however the engine would not start 10 seconds later the breather and oil cap blew of with a hell ogf lot of white smoke coming out the oil cap hole
i love this car but i think this is the decider to be honest im guessing the exhaust valve has dropped and was hitting the piston hence the clicking
so now i have to strip the head even tho i only did the head gasket a month ago get the head redone and put it all back together in this weather think ive just had enough now ive spent so much on it and it has spent more time off road than on.
rant over

i would mind so much if it was a second car but its not i actually rely on it and breaking down in a really scummy area of birmingham with my 3yo daughter in the car just kinda pushed me over the edge tbh

Oh fuckin hell mate, i feel for ya. I think we have all been there at some point once owning a fast ford.
If theres whit smoke coming out the filler i would have said more the headgasket? If so, i would just change that, give the oil a good flush out and go again. Did it make any other nasty noises??

Hmmmm, the oil should be creamy if it is emitting white smoke/steam from the oil filler cap. I had an RS many years back where i did the hg, went round the block and the thing blew straight into the water jacket from No3 piston, looked at the hg and there was a fault with it, the fire ring was only half the thickness that it should of been. What hg did you use?

Sadly owning rst's at the age they are now goes like that sometimes even when you've done things properly, get it all sorted though and you'll be smiling again !! In fairness though mine would have gone years ago if i had to rely on it everyday, any possibility of buying a cheapish runabout and havin it as a weekend toy?!

If youre gonna go jap get a 200sx S13 not the long s14. 1.8 DOHC 16V TURBO 172bhp standard rwd.my mates got 1,lovely inside easy to get 240-250bhp+ out of these and are a rare sight on the road.IMO if youre gonna get a skyline, get a r32 2.0 single turbo 4wd hicas, insurance shouldnt be too bad an the r32s look much cooler than oafish common r33s and r34s. if i had to get rid of my rs id get the 200sx 4 sure.
