Default Fuse gauges?

do you lot put an inline fuse on your 12V supply to your gauges, oil temp etc?

autometer doesnt mention it and neither do any other sites ive read, but im not sure (electrics aint really my thing!)
if you have, what size, 5amp?

reason i ask, is Mike Rainbirds ACT gauge says you MUST use a fuse....and my autometer electrical gauge says noofin?

anyone clarify?

Its always a good idea to put the CORRECT size fuse inline with any
device needing power.
Ideally nearer to the place where the power comes from is best.
OR take power from a circuit that has a low enough amp size fuse protection already.

I think that autometer assume that you would take the supply from a fused live

i assume wiring it into a 5amp circuit is what you want?

Hi Rich, for the gauges your using any live feed will be fine, providing its switched by the ignition, I would take a live feed off of the back of the ignition though a fuse and then to your gauges

Cheers

i personally use the same feed as the stereo, but only as its the easiest one to reach at behind the dash board

altho strangely on my car the stereo shares the same feed as the instrument cluster

but then the wiring on my car is properly donald ducked!
