forgot to mention the car has done 23k and it holds about 1.8-2 bar oil pressure when warm but does sound a tiny bit tappety, not sure if this is normal with these engines as its me 1st cossy. dont know if this info makes any difference to choice of oil?

pro s 10/50 is the oil to use

oil pressure is a subject that normally gets alot of different answers as there are so many variables

if 2 bar is after a long hard thrash then its not that bad a reading, but it really depends on lots of things

from what ive heard n read anything above 1.5 bar is good pressure on yb's when warm so i dont think i need to use anything to heavy!!! i will try silcolene though as it seems to have plenty off

the engines are not the quietest ... thats correct ... but i would expect more than 1.8 to 2.0 oil pressure ... i have a small turbo and mine between 4.0 and 5.0 bar at about 2000 rpm when warm ... most people recommend a 15/50 weight oil ... i will quote some official ford oil pressure figures .. minimum oil pressure at 900/950 rpm 1.8 bar and at2000 rpm 2.4 bar ...... ps .. those figures are for a 5/50 weight oil at 80 degrees .c. ... i hope this helps ... ps .. mine has done 47000 miles and i use motul 300v 15/50 ...........

From the GGR web site:
OIL PRESSURE (ALL MODELS)
MINIMUM OIL PRESSURE WHEN AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE.
IDLE SPEED1.8 BAR (26 PSI)
2000 RPM2.4 BAR (35 PSI)

I wouldn't use 15w50 as its too thick from cold when you need it to be thin, the manual states 5w50, but thats on a new engine. As with most things its trial & error, a noisy engine when cold could be due to the oil being too thin or too thick.
You just have to find what works for yours.

I use motorcraft oil thats what it was designed on and my oil pressure is fine. Also if the car wasn't fitted with a oil pressure guage like most cars you wouldnt take any notice anyway. well unless the pressure light stayed on??

seriously? ignorance is bliss!

just a word of warning about the standard system on cossies oil pressure warning. The oil light will only come on when the pressure is at 7psi or lower, but which time it might as well say "your engine is fucked". the damage would already have been done at 7psi

Exactley, the light is a waste of time. Its like fitting a fuel light that only comes on after you've run out of Fuel.

Just don't let the colour put you off.
I had to check the container several times as it just doesn't look right.
