its a pipe taken from (usuall?) an external wastegate that vents to the atmosphere rather than back into the exhaust, as far as i know, someone will give more info though!

only used for externally gated turbos.

and pipe exits behind front wheel (of course can exit anywhere you like, or go back into main system)

a screamer pipe is like a mini exhaust straight from the external wastegate to atmosphere and simply dumps the built up exhaust gases from the wastegate , but you dont have to run it to atmosphere you can fabricate it back into the exhaust down pipe so it runs the full lenght of the car , but they sound awesome with a short pipe at the front of the car

I had one fitted on mine (Evo) But it was just a modded turbo elbow so was still using the internal wastegate,,
Its was ok for awhile but got me sent off a few trackdays for being too loud so the idea got binned..

Mine has its own Silenced exhaust. I can unbolt the silencer if I wish, but frankly, do not wish!! LOL.

that evo sounds shite and if mine sounded like that i would be thinking its broke or somthing, is it helpfull to reliability or performance or just a gimmick for saxo drivers to listen too.

Thats a good idea christian, a removable silencer would be a perfect set up for someone who does alot of track days.
Do you have any pictures of how the silencer and screamer pipe are routed?

I've been toying with the idea of setting up my screamer pipe so it can be changed to flow into the down pipe on quick release flanges.

But as I have a side exit exhaust with no silencer, it might not dampen the sound of the wastegate...
