as above i need a new windscreen mine is mouldy and not to mention i smashed it to bitz when my car broke down last year was wondering how much for a new one and how much to fit im hoping not to much as it needs mot tax and insurence any help need a guesstimate cheers

 

I was quoted Ł180 from a very good local firm, I picked up a screen off a pf member for Ł50 and the local firm fitted it for Ł30,

My screen is heated, none heated is cheaper

 

Had one fitted 2 months ago for Ł100 heated and tinted from my local windscreen company.

 

Non heated screens are peanuts - ring these guys, they might have a branch local to you;

Fitting you can do yourself - length of string and some glass cleaner in a spray bottle and you're done in 5 mins. Or if you don't fancy it, as said, a local company will do that for Ł30 - might even get a local fitter to do it for less as a private job...

as per mesage about tinted window? do u mean sunstrip on it or another window? as its illegal to tint ANY front windscreen

 

Probably means tinted as in the screen has a green tint - standard on virtually all mk4 Escorts (mk3 were bronze)...

 

just seen this after i sent pm...very good price that is if its a new screen..costs me more to buy them than you paid inc fitting...

 

I need a new one, but I'm gonna go thru insurnce as ya allowed 7 window claims before it effects NCB or so I have been told.

 

the last i heard it was 2 claims before ncb is affected..this was just before christmas when i did insurance work for the company i worked for..i cant see ins companies increasing the amount of claims you are allowed..especially in the current climate and with excesses increasing over the years

 

I may have heard it wrong, although was told ages ago. Either way, I'm still doing it thru insurance

 

think mine must have had a replacement then, or im blind dont think i have that on im just getting the 5mil security tint on the sides and a small sunstrip outside on the car but not this limo chav shit, maybe a bit of 20% tint on the window on the inside so it at least helps on sunny days
