Default Bending a stainless exhaust?

another problem

i have converted my downpipe flange to vband.

now for some reason its about 5mm from going on turbo square because the other end of the downpipe is hitting the gearbox cradle. so i need to slightly bend the downpipe down more so the flange sits correctly.

ive tried to put it in a vice and bend it but dont move

can i heat it at a bend would it be a lot easier then, like said i only need 5mm.

Have you not got a local Powerflow type of place to go to, they could bend it with a mandrell inside the pipe to stop the pipework from distorting/creasing while its being bent, plus they have a bending machine which will take all the effort out of it and get he bend closer to what you actually want it to be, plus it'll cost you next to nowt.

hi mate youll be lucky to bend that in a vice like the bloke said above mandrel bend it but dont use powerflow as they use crush type benders , or cut nearly all the way through it and then bend it shut and reweld it if your in a rush or send it to ojz engineering in lincoln as they have a quick turn around

Bending 3" thin wall stainless is tricky. I would cut it and weld it!

cut and weld is probably the best way of doing it from your description, you could do it gearbox end so its not in sight?
