zetec s turbo is this possoble please help!!
hi everyone im new to this site my name is gavin 21 and im from essex and drive a fiesta zetec s anniversary model in radiant red. i just looking into see if its possible to turbo my zetec s
and how i would go about it. i know there is a company called van aken who do it but its only a low bost turbo but im looking for something with alot more power like a fiesta rs turbo or cosworth. would i have to do a complete engine swap say a fiesta rs turbo engine or can i keep the engine iv got now and turbo that? im a bit unsure about how you would go about doing this just needing a bit of friendly advise. i know that if i can do that i would need to upgrade some bits to cope with the extra power. can anyone help me please? thanks for looking.
the zetec s engines are not very good engines to turbo and if you did it wont last, if you can afford to get a 2litre zetec and turbo that,(some one is selling a area six engine in the for sale bits have a look at that as its priced very well and theengine is very well built)
I've driven a mk5 zetec s turbo running 6-7psi and it was fairly quick, but any more boost and the engine would quickly kill itself, I would advise either building the engine youve got properly, ie low compression, forged pistons etc etc, or swapping it to a 2.0 zetec (which requires all new mounts, driveshafts, wiring loom etc etc) with the appropriate mappable ecu, ie megasquirt or omex, neither of which come cheap!
Good luck to you.
Good luck to you.
the van aken turbo is not worth the money imo let us know what budget you have the cheap option is the rst lump but the better option is a 1.8/2.0 zetec turbo depending on what you want you could build a higher compression 1.8 with 250ish hp that will be more responsive off boost with a roller bearing turbo ect or anything up to a gt35 powerered 6 speed monster it all depends on budget and what you want from the car
hi thanks for your response ben. by the sounds of things i will have to do an engine swap by the sounds of that. didnt know if i could just put a turbo on the car and build around that. to be honest not sure what budget im looking at just interested in something different that not many people have done. i know its going be expensive lol but
it lol.
it lol.

everyone has a different opinions on compression power ect it seem to starts a row on here everytime high compression turbo engines are mentioned
as for something different its hard to be original as turbo/supercharge zetecs have been done rear engine 4x4 ect has been done too. just think about what you want the car to go like quick and sharp or mental speed and what you want to use the car for. at 21 your insurance is a limiting factor you can build a 1.8 zetec with a roller bearing t28 and megasquirt management fit a good brake setup puma rear end and good suspension and you'll scare a few fast cars if your budget stretches get a cts box and decent clutch and shot shift your like most turbo powered car owners you'll always want more lol

gavin zetec s- turbocharging the zetec-s engine is the same as any other engine... you need the same parts replaced.. there's no reason you can't do it, you just need to find a suitable tuner/engine builder willing to take on the job.. you're not going to find the stuff off-the-shelf..
Some on zsoc/ukfn has a blue one, bodykit morettes painted in glitter paint, but with something like 250bhp+ out of the 1.6 turbod, obviously hes put some serious money into it for that. Also got something stupid like 330mm ap's or the like
