mfi tps setting
hi all
right i bought myself a polished throttle body with the throttle postion sensor attached and when i place my one along side the tps are in different postions which i would expect and thinking i could just move new one into same postion for fitment but after reading haynes manual it says to get this set by fords
is this the case with the tps what would happen if i just set the new one the same as old one or am i asking for trouble , tobe honest all the years around rst stripping ,repairing them i have never had to change one
if it was not set right what are the signs of trouble

so if i do it like this then fit new throttle body switch engine on not running with the screws holding tps loose ,operate throttle whilst looking at butterfly for slight opening then move tps untill it clicks would this do the trick
also do you know what to look out for if its not right setting/ further adjustment needed
many thanks

Mine must be buggered as it only clicks initially when opening the throttle and not at WOT.
I removed it and used a flat headed screwdriver in the slot and still only one click.
This would explain my poor throttle response and lack of power above 4K revs hence the reason I been driving it around like a granny on the way to ASDA.

obviously karlos g giving out odd information as the 3 i've got here all only click once maybe he could up load a video for us of his clicking twice and the voltage along with it as as far as i'm aware they click so ecu knows when to run fuel shut of when slowing down as those with afr's in car will have noticed the guage read in the 20's when off throttle slowing down and it reads full throttle via voltage from tps not a click
Hmmmm maybe i am wrong?!
I have not actually checked my own to be 100% but i'm sure i read one of Stu's articles on the KE system and he said the ECU registers 3 positions, Shut, WOT, and in between (no microswitches active), it's definitely not a variable potentiometer though.
But it looks like the odds are against me!
Sorry!

The way i was told to do it is to push the tps onto the throttle body (will only go on one way) then turn the TPS clockwise towards the bulkhead till you here it click then tighten the screws. Now when you move the throttle arm you should hear the click again.
