since deciding to sell my mk5 escort it has got a missfire. i have replaced plugs so far.
the problem is it start to missfire one boost and also once the car is warm it will not start. when its cold its ok but as soon as you go 2 mins down the road switch it off it dont wanna know. now its getting a spark! now i have had a listen to the engine and i can hear a hissing sound from behind the manifold which i think is auxilly air valve. i can wiggle some black pipe and the hissing noise changes tone. now could this be my problem ? i cant find my rs turbo haynes manuel!
any help will be great

Yeah i had this and it was the black pipe going from the AAD to the inlet manifold, the rubber insert had split.

 

right will take the pipes off tonight hopefully then, i hope thats what it is. it just suddenly started doing it and its only when i had a listen the other day i could hear a bit of hissing. why would it start when its cold?

 

is it this pipe?

yeh thats the pipe i moved it and the hissing tone changed! will have to take it off then and have a look

 

yeh the engine will start then cut out at times ! starts ok then its cold thou

 

i dont know if its a bodge fix but i wrapped some ptfe tape rouned mine and put it back on, its been sound for over 6 months now.

 

right i took pipe off didnt seen any splits but i did a bodge fix with tape. will put it back on. i am wondering now if its the other blackpipe which goes from the breather to the fuel metering unit as i cant see what else will be hissin. i will try get the pipe back on later

 

It should have a rubber insert inside like this one you can see split!

 

my mates mum escort does this it cuts out when u slow down to fast it the inlet pipe from the inlet manifold just needs cleaning
