What did you do to your car that makes it produce the same power at 10 psi that most other rs turbos produce at 16-17 psi?

Yay I won something!!!
Although i was guessing @Fly not @wheels

So 212Bhp@Fly is a good result mate, that stage 3 T3 must really be getting the gasses in and out!

Not that i don't believe that's what your printout said but 184bhp at the wheels with just 10psi and a standard intercooler is very optimistic imo, in fact as i'd go so far as to say it wouldn't actually be that power in reality.....

I don't think youre car made 184 BHP at 10 psi,no matter how much the turbo was modified!!!Standard head, std cams and a std interwarmer!!!Bloodly hell,I must get my car on them rollers,it will make 600 BHP!!!!! Micky

well yeh, this was what my initial reaction was too, but didnt wana rain on the kids parade lol

i think its safe to say you could estimate the power more accurately yourself by attempting to bite down on the wheel with your own teeth, as opposed to trusting their rollers

lol dont take it to heart mate, im not dissing your motor, just hi-tec always seem to supply rather questionable results

a while ago a lad i know came back with a power figure at the wheels higher than my fly figure i got after my session down jamsport. this is bearing in mind his car was standard except a chip and actuator, and running 5psi less than mine

but the main thing is so long as your happy with it and it keeps u sweet, then no real worries man, and if your that worried about gettin a more accurate power figure, now its set up at least u can just pop along to a RR day for a cheap power run at somewhere reputable

TBH RR BHP figures are pretty much useless, no two are alike and no two operators do things exactly the same!
Great for setting the car up though, fuelling, timing, boost etc...

If you want real BHP figures then an Engine Dyno is the only accurate way to do it IMO.

Orion88 I agree people take things too seriously on here and indeed a lot brooms need removing PMSL!

ahahaha i dnt take it personally at all
im happy that it runs properly and is fueling great to be honest im getting 35mpg as opposed to my 15 and the boost spluttering is gone so for that the session was totally worth the money
just nice to have a figure in mind and a starting post to go from

Can i borrow this topic? I am currently building new engine and i want to know approx power what it will give.
And the specs:

-1600 rst bottom end rebored + 0.5mm
-EFI Head with matched intake+exhaust manifolds, reconditioned head with some porting.
-Piper 285T2 cam kit & adjustable pulley properly timed.
-EFI intake manifold (matched), 380cc injectors
-Megasquirt efi ecu+wasted spark
-Std exhaust manifold & std t03 turbo+31 actuator
-Mongoose 2.5" bore exhaust
-Pipercross filter
-Airtec big cooler

I am thinking something like 18-19 PSI of boost. 200 bhp from the engine?

Antti O- yeah you wont be far off with a decent intercooler.. dont bother with the piper cam, they're not great on 1.6 engines.. drop the compression ratio and fit a larger turbo and you'll be in a much better position.

I have 2 cams, cvh 35 from kent and piper 285t2. 285T2 is good condition (like new) and i think i will use it because if i want std efi cam from ford it would cost 200+lifters..
I am afraid that 285t2 is so "high rev" cam so is useless but i think i give a try. I will get larger turbo & better exhaust manifold in next winter, but this "first summer" i am gonna drive with this package. Can std t03 handle 18-20psi?

Antti O- yes, but you'll hit other limits before that.. aim for around 1.1-1.2 bar and you should be okay.

Okay.. can you tell me which are the next limits that i should upgrade? Turbo & exhaust manifold are obvious but how far i can go with std pistons & rods.
