Default MPG on a 300BHP Saff 4x4?

What sort of milage would you expect to get from the above state of tune?

At the moment i'm getting about 180 miles to £42, with semi hard driving, going up and down the A13 every day at 70.........................ish

Thats at stage 1 running about 270ish BHP. I do alot of idleing where i warm it up and cool it down though.

Is that about right?

I've got the stuff to do it i.e Greens, 3 Bar MAP and Chip, but i haven't got the breather kit on yet. Should i get that first?

Thanks,

Dave

I think i get that on my 400bhp engine

my last engine stage 3 used to do average about 230 miles to a tank.

chip from stu, setup by a rolling road ( might add, not the best )

but i still got 300 from £40ish crusing... on stage 3, t34, greens

even at 130+ i still managed 200-250

edited to say, rolling road not the best, the chip was top

come to think of it - i only just manage to get 300 miles on my saff 2.0i ghia which is all standard, and that is mostly taking it easy.

But then i could be down to my driving style and big heavy feet

get a chip off stu and drive to stus and get him to set it up, but if ya want the best economy then get a live map setup, trust me thats the best option

bit at the moment incase ya not aware im very happy with my chip and set up by msd, also the price was very very good

My 4x4 was no diffrent on fuel going from stg1 to greens set up on average
Obviously used more when booting it

Best I got was 28 mpg at 80-90mph motorway run, worked out 300 miles on £40 With 4 people in car.

Would do 100 miles on £20 short trips

Thanks for the replies guys, just want to know. When a car is 'set up' i understand that the boost is measured with a boost gauge and set up witht the actuator, but how do you set the fueling up properly? Do you check the fuel pressure with a gauge and set it using the regulator or is it a laptop job, up this a bit lower that a bit?

Is there anything else you do when 'setting the car up?'

Are 2-door fuel tanks bigger than a Saph 4x4 tank?

Ta,

Dave
fuelling settings are first done at the fuel regulator by ensuring that is working and set perfectly to standard and the rising rate is correct.

Then the co is adjusted.

Then the car is driven with a wideband air fuel ratio monitor fitted to the car and teh fuel settings on cruise, part throttle and load are checked.

Hope this helps.

Pukka, thanks stu.

My CO was running at 6%! (The MOT man didn't like me, he said i was creating my very own hole in the ozone layer!! )

I've since had it lowered to 4%, is this still to high?

I did have my fueling checked a year or so ago, does it need 'tweaking' on a more regular basis? I think it was 2bar on idle and went up to 2.5 or is it 3.5bar on boost.

3dr tank is 60 litres as are saph tanks - but someone correct me if the 4x4 ones are not 60 litres.

Cawood - finally a car that has worse fuel consumption than mine u could be driving a cossie with the amount u sepnd on fuel and still have money left over

Cawood, Yeah ok the petrol cost may be cheaper but i'd stick with your RST cos when a cossie goes wrong it usually costs more.......... a lot more!

On a stage 1?
Id be wanting her at sub 2%mate on non lambda controlled and 0.3 - 0.5% with lambda control.

Fuel pressure is 3.5bar idle and 1:1 rising ratio

Oh you think that could be why my car is driving like a dog when it's cold then Stu? It also feels like it misses when you let off, and when you plant it, it hesitates/misses for a split second then goes and feels fine untill you let off again.

If i rev the car standing still past 2k rpm then slowly let it down to 2k rpm and hold it there it feels like its missing.

Could it be coked up and need a thrashing or is it more likely that something is not right?

I'm a bit cautious when booting it now as i don't want to blolw a piston!

Thats what I get roughly on a stage 1 as well. I know it is over fuelling massively though. At idle it has a wisp of black smoke every so often.

Stu - Is the adjusting you mention above, something I could do or does it have to go to a tuner?

Sorry to hijack!

Funny you said that pops, my friend mentioned that the other day, but he said it 'smelt' rich, how can it 'sound' rich?

It doesn't throw out any smoke though, would have thought it would if it was running rich
