Quaife Diffs and Donuts...
ok when people refer to a diff as a "quaife diff" i assume they mean a std diff with uprated/stronger components? or are they refering to an ATB diff?
anyhow... with either, would there be and different effects (when tring to donut) to a normal standard LSD jobby...
we had b19bal's car in a big carpark earlier... it wont donut! its like a car without a slipper... spins a lot but just goes in a big wide circle (like mine )
any thoughts?

A quaife diff should have far more lock in it than standard, which should help it donut, not make it worse.
You can donut a car without a LSD anyhow
I could donut the old A-reg 1.6 pinto sierra i had as a runaround when i was 18 as long as the ground was slippy, you think THAT had a LSD?
My 3dr would donut easy and the LSD was wanked on that, half the time on a fullbore launch itd only lay down 1 tyre mark...
Think yall need a crash course in how to act like idiots

Let me guess, you tried to drive into a donut from a rolling start? Thats the usual mistake. Start from a standstill, put on full lock and do a big sidestep launch to get the wheels spinning. It's much easier this way!!

Exactly.
But even from a rolling start with Ginges spec it would donut if you was brutal enough with the steering n engine.
20mph roller in 1st, suddenly lots of lock while foot to floor n dip the clutch quickly at same time, and around youd go, LSD or not.
With a decent diff like Ginge is mean to have it should make it easy.
You either not got it on enough lock (ie not full), your being dead gay with the power, or the front geometrys sooooo bad it understeers under full lock n power (and i cant see that somehow on a RWD of any kind)

my thoughts are !!!!! you do not know how to start the donut off!!!!!
try dipping the clutch whilst you do your initial turn in, once the car is turning hard (with the clutch still depressed) drop the clutch in and nail the fooker.....!
she will donut round and round
you want to do it from a standing start.........?
put the strg hard one way, nail the fooker and as you drop the clutch in swap pedals(heal and toe) and lightly feather the brake with your left foot.....
that will smoke it proper bo!!!!!!if you master it right , as you grab 2nd you can do a huge powerslide out of it
All the chavs will think your a god
BIG WARNING
be prepared for plenty of diff,clutch,g/box explosions

A Quaife ATB will only spin one wheel only if it loses contact with the ground.
Are you sure its a Quaife diff and not just a fubar standard one?
The otehr problem can be trying too hard and spinning out! Once going you shouldn't need much throttle in a Cossie to keep it spinning. Although I have noticed not many people can donut cossies properly, i'm definitely not very good myself! Whereas people jump straight into a beemer and it sits on the spot doing circles all night no hastle..
Maybe someone can shed some light on how to donut a Cossie properly!

Well I can't do donoughts properly in mine, but a friend rally driver does them all day in the same car, he says it a matter of right angle in the steering and lifting off at the right moments.

all techniques described above... i tried... lol
its not like i don't know how to donut a car, i used to do my old motors all the time...
its not just the donut bit, its just getting the arse end out... there's no "back end feels lights, round it goes" sensation... just makes lots of wheelspinny noise, lots of smoke pouring from tyres, and car goes round in big big circle

ok few things to point out, if got fooking huge tyres on the car and i dont fucking wanna learn how to go round in fucking circles
i have no interest in that shit, totally pointless fucking post tbh, oh and jim remeber i have had a boost leak too and i dont get full boost on first
this will never be attempted again as its fucking useless
i couldnt give a fuck if my car dont do circles,
oh and could the clutch slip be a cause too
sorry guys but thats tooooo chav type nova shot for me, fair play i drove like a pussy but i got a cossie to be a fast car, if i wanna go round in circles ill go to a kids playground where it wont cost me a few quid in spares and then i can have fun on the slide too
fun is driving from 1 point to anther fast
the point of last night was about if i loose the back end to control it, what use is it if the back end goes i can go round in circles for a few mins

If your running adjustable koni dampers, set the rears to medium and set the fronts to 2 turns from full soft i.e. set them to full soft and then turn the adjuster 2 full turns the other way (they do 3 full turns with the koni adjuster). My mates 2wd saph had the same problem when he 1st got it, previous owner set the koni's to full soft front and rear, handled like a boat Now it's nice and predicatable through the twisties

donuts might be gay, but if you got a RWD that wont even do them then you got no chance of drifting it, and also no chance its handling properly
OR
your just all patheticly poor drivers
Has ANY of you that attempted it in Ginges car ever done donuts before?
And how can Donuts be a Chav/Nova type thing Ginge? Novas are FWD, like your car seems to be...

steve, my car does loose traction , trust me, never had a issue doing that, donuts, pass, steve will bigger tyres make it difficult ( big and wide tyres that is )
sorry but the hole car park donut thing is a bit too chav, sorry mate not trying to offend but to me it seems to be a really hard thing to do that looks easy #
bit like wheel spinning out of mcdonalds, now drifting to me looks difficult and impressive, looks better if ya dont car and ya fook off out of sight very fast too #
each to there own

front suspention is set to fook of hard on konis, not sure the rear setting of the konis and that requires more that just turning a key, you have to get a spanner out and get dirty so fook doing that imo
oh and i got a caravan assister things on the rear and the back is lowered too ( i fucking hate it too )
steve ya gonna get a pm too

power is not a issue, its a smooth power delivery high up the rev range though
its holding 25psi to the limiter, that to me is resonable
oh and it also runs lean past 6000rpm in 4th and 5th, cant be that slow to do that imo

Thing is tho ginge, learning to do donuts is the FIRST thing any drifter has to learn.
They start with donuts, then drifted circles (ie BIG donuts), then figure8s, once you can do all that REALLY well, to be honest, you will be able to drift round corners like there no tomorrow

Aye, always seemed to be dead simple in mine, as I'm a total child in charge of a 300hp RWD bus
1. Call suitable loan company and make sure your credit is good
2. Ascertain that your correct model of tyres are in stock
3. Ring the AA, and have the nearest van driver put on danger money
4. Call friends and check you have a replacement diff available
5. Ring the AA back just to make sure
6. Select an armful of full right lock
7. Instruct passenger to hold cheeseburger
8. Hoof right foot down in manner similar to squashing a cockroach
9. Have a final look round for any jam sandwiches
10. Drop clutch, and enjoy the sheer noise and tyre smoke
11. Get out and gleefully examine 6mm of tread stuck to your inner arch
12. Sob as you remember they were 225/40/17 Eagle F1's
