You may well know this car if you're an old school RSOC BB user. It used to be Chop's car. i bought it in November 2002. I remember saying to him that I hoped to have the welding done by the Christmas
I only got it back from the painters last July! It took ages to get all the welding done on it as I have basically never rebuilt a car by myself before! I replaced:
Front X member,
Passneger Wing,
Battery Tray
Fuse box tray,
Inner sills
Outer sills
Driver side floor pans,
De locked doors,
Rear Chassis legs
A pillar repairs both sides (at the base)
Rear passenger side corner repair (above the light)
Boot floor
Lower rear panel
Various other little repairs.
I did all the welding and fabricating myself so it took a while to get it just how I wanted it all. It was definately worth it in the end!
I didn't spray the car myself though i chickened out of that at the last minute!
Probably just as well!
I have just finished replacing all the suspension on the car with new Koni's at each corner (cheers Cossymad!) and new control arms all round and new bushes all round too. I went for standard ford bushes as the roads around the North of Scotland are not too kind on Polyurethane bushes!
I have also just finished rebuilding the engine and Gearbox too so hopefully it'll be running in the next couple of weekends!
More on the engine later when I get the pics uploaded! Here's some pics of the shell.

And in all her former glory with Chop at the helm!

Cheers Stevo.
I bought the engine second hand and was told that it would run straight away, the guy said that he thought that it was low comp but had no proof to tell me so. I ended up buying it and stripping it down. I found that the head gasket had gone in fairly spectacular style allowing coolant to accumulate in bores 2 and 3. Things did not look good. At this point I had simply wanted to replace anything it needed to get it running again. After inspecting the bores and the (standard!) pistons I decided it needed to be checked out by a pro so I sent the lot to AGRA in Dundee. They told me that it needed re bored and that I would need new pistons. At this point I lost all grip of reality (and wallet
) and decided to go for low comp pistons with shot peened balanced rods. The crank was reground by 0.25mm and lightened balanced and tuftrided along with the flywheel and pressure plate. The bits were back in my hands after 2 weeks which I thought was pretty good. I assembled the lot myself with new VP2 bearing shells and ARP bolts. I also put in a new HP oil pump just to be safe! With all that in the bottom end it was pointless putting the standard head on it so I sent it to get ported and polished up, and then fitted it wi a kent CVH35 kit and vernier. The turbo is a stage1 hybrid with -31 actuator. I am currently botchiing a 2WD cossie IC as well. Am aiminig for 200 BHP but I think I'm gonna need a stage 3 head and a stage 3 turbo too

I was originally going to go for the piper 285T2 but I heard that it was all top end power, I am after lower down torque and intend to run no more than 15 PSi (to begin with anyway!LOL) I got more pics of the engine in the car now, but can't post them up til the weekend cos am at work.

It's been a while since I been around! So here's some more pics to keep u up to date. The car is almost finished apart from I am pulling my hair out trying to get a hold of a fuel hose connector that fits between the metal pipe that runs below the car and the plastic hose that comes from the fuel reg
Apart from that it's just a case of fitting new tyres and firing it up!
A nice shiny new engine freshly rebuilt!

And carefully lowered in to place using a lift from an old folks home! Just the same as a engine lift except it's used to lift old farts out of the bath!

Front view

Another from the front after I botched together a bracket to mount the Cossie 2WD IC on.

The IC in question after being modified to allow the hose to go across the top of it.

Nice shiney SS tubing and Samcos, thanks to Lee @ Fusion

You can just see the IC poking out below where the plate would be, I had to cut out a ton of foam to get it in there!

The "finished"product!

From afar it don't look too bad IMHO!

I have now manage to get it turning over after rebuilding the starter motor, which strangely worked when I had it on the bench before fitting it??!!! I got oil pressure, ...which is nice, fuel pressure and some spark too, you would think that's all it takes, nah, the timing is 180 degrees out
No worries, easy sorted!

Fuck me! Thats a top job by yourelf m8! I'm well impressed! I remember that car when I was at AVA years ago. Made good power then. Do you have the number for ARGA? They built my engine too, but I have no clue of the spec!
Top job!
Top job!
