Cheers Stevo.
I bought the engine second hand and was told that it would run straight away, the guy said that he thought that it was low comp but had no proof to tell me so. I ended up buying it and stripping it down. I found that the head gasket had gone in fairly spectacular style allowing coolant to accumulate in bores 2 and 3. Things did not look good. At this point I had simply wanted to replace anything it needed to get it running again. After inspecting the bores and the (standard!) pistons I decided it needed to be checked out by a pro so I sent the lot to AGRA in Dundee. They told me that it needed re bored and that I would need new pistons. At this point I lost all grip of reality (and wallet ) and decided to go for low comp pistons with shot peened balanced rods. The crank was reground by 0.25mm and lightened balanced and tuftrided along with the flywheel and pressure plate. The bits were back in my hands after 2 weeks which I thought was pretty good. I assembled the lot myself with new VP2 bearing shells and ARP bolts. I also put in a new HP oil pump just to be safe! With all that in the bottom end it was pointless putting the standard head on it so I sent it to get ported and polished up, and then fitted it wi a kent CVH35 kit and vernier. The turbo is a stage1 hybrid with -31 actuator. I am currently botchiing a 2WD cossie IC as well. Am aiminig for 200 BHP but I think I'm gonna need a stage 3 head and a stage 3 turbo too
