This is probably about as likely as enjoying a fart in a space-suit, but does anyone have, or know someone who has a Gunson Fault Code Finder with a plug to connect to an old Fordy?
Car's been off the road for 3 months now, had 2 diff mechanics, and a pretty useless auto-spark have a look and none of them can find out what's wrong. Auto-spark said he didn't have equipment old enough to connect to my car to read any ecu fault codes.
Would be very much appreciated to borrow one to try and find out what's up with the car.
Cheers

Is it standard??? I have one in my garage but it was a load of Tom Kite.... couldn't get it to work, either there was nothing wrong with the car, the reader was knackered, or it didn't work with a non-standard setup? Take your pick!
What are the symptoms the car is having?

Lol, I could be here all day, I've put about 20 threads on here!
Basically, car cuts out randomly, but when it does, the fuel pump keeps running. Then, anytime I turn the ignition on again, the fuel pump will just run constantly, instead of priming for a few seconds.
So, the ECU is in LOS mode because it can't figure out what's going wrong with the management.
But then it will randomly start, and run good for up to a few hours, then cuts out again.
The Auto-sparks round my way can't be arsed having to actually work for their money, they just wanna plug a computer in so it tells them what's wrong, so they don't want to have a look. One of them said to try and get hold of this Gunson thing and that should be able to tell me what fault codes the ECU is showing.
Car's management/loom is standard (EFi Ghia 1990), engine is converted to EFi Turbo (Same as FRST)
Car's run good for 2 years, no bother. Have all the FRST management to go in, but nobody seems to want to help with that either

Also, so far I've replaced 2 crank shaft sensors, 2 fuel pump relays, fuel pump/sender and fuel pressure regulator!
Seeing as it's random, it surely has to be electrical like a dodgy connection or broken wire?

Well there's a few things I would do, as I'm sure you've already gathered, anything electrical usually turns out to be a complete pain in the arse. Can you not "borrow" or buy another ECU to try for a few days to see if this eliminated the problem, i'm sure if you posted on here someone would have one nearby you, or you colud send it away to be checked out?
Also, I'm sure another loom would be a good idea, I'd imagine you can pick these up for peanuts off of any car being broken?
Failing that, what about Sitech or AVA, they should definately be able to diagnose your faults. I can have a look for that fault finder in my garage if you like as i don't need it, just need to check that it's compatable with your management first.

Trying to find an ECU from another Orion the same as mine might be a problem, I'd imagine they'll be hard to come across. I might be as well posting another wanted thread though..
The problem with the loom is, I'm not 100% sure that there were no mods done to it before I got the car. I could also try asking for a FRST one, but was hoping to get away with not doing that, because I can use the existing loom that's in my car, as they are about 98% the same.
I can't even consider SITECH or AVA just now, due to distance but more importantly, money, hence why I'm trying all the cheaper optoins first
I just thought the Gunson could be the quick/easy solution if it worked.
I know I WILL have to get it all sorted and set-up soon, but I just desperatly need to get it running again just now, so gotta try and be as resourceful as possible, for the least amount of cash
