Anyone who knows London......
Right, im taking the bird to see Britney Spears at the O2 in June. Ive booked the flights to Heathrow and im booked into The International in Canary Wharf for a few days. Need to know some things cos ive now looked at London and it looks fookin huge
......
1. What train station do i head for from Heathrow and roughly how much does it cost?
2. Is Madame Tussauds far from my hotel? (one of the things i said id do if i went to London)
3. Is Buckingham Palace far from my hotel?
4. Is there a large shopping bit near my hotel?
5. Am i likely to get mugged/stabbed/shot near my hotel?
(the programme Soho Blues has scared me now
)
Cheers, Paul

Should take an hour to get from Heathrow to Canary Warf on the tube...
Ł4 single
Madame Tussauds and Buck House are about a 45 min journey on the Tube from the hotel
And apparently there is a shopping center around Canary Warf http://www.londontown.com/LondonInfo...g_Centre/1768/
If you want to check for tube journeys... http://www.tfl.gov.uk/

They have the Thames clipper which is really handy for getting from places like Madame Tussauds, runs all the way from Waterloo to the O2 and makes various stops along the way, i think it's something like Ł6/Ł7?
From the Canary Wharf to Buckingham palace, it's roughly 6 miles.
They do signpost the tube maps quite well though and the hotel will give you a pretty good idea as well

Depends what your interests are. Harrods is a good one to just have a wonder around as is Selfridges.
There is a Krispy Kreme in Harrods, and usually some pretty expensive vehicles parked outside/dropping people off.
Im a bit of a geek and LOVE going to wander around the British Museum, Natural History Museum, Science Museum....
There's the Trocadero which is good to kill an hour or so playing on the arcades...

If it's a nice day take her to the park. If you're already forking out enough money on the flights and hotel, i suggest you steer clear of Harrods if in a company of a lady
Everytime i go to London i just always take a walk around Leicester and Trafalgar square, it's cooool
London Dungeons are meant to be a must as well, but havent been in over 10 years so cant really remember much.
The Thames Clipper is also just a really nice way of getting about, you get to see all the sites and it's cool
especially at Sunset

1) Picadilly Line from Heathrow to Green Park. Change to the Jubilee Line to Canary Wharf.
2) Jubilee Line from Canary Wharf to Baker Street (Madame Tussauds)
3) Buck Palace is Green Park again (Jubilee Line)
4) Westfield is the new one that's meant to be good. Sheppards Bush. So DLR to Bank from Canary Wahrf. Then onto Central line to Shep Bush.
Plus obviously Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road are the main shopping areas. TCR is mainly electrical shops though. Ox Street clothes and HMV's

Knightsbridge is Harrods, but IMHO it's overrated. Selfridges is much better (Bond Street Tube closer) As I read somewhere. You'll want everything. And the Mrs will definetly!

5) Probably. Especially if the city traders need extra cash.
To be fair. The main problem is not getting stabed, but being pick pocketed. I would say. So be aware of your bags/possessions. But Docklands is generally safe. As is most of Central London / Soho if you aren't stupid.
Rich w, thanks for that mate thats exactly what i was lookin for cos i dont have a clue about London. Shes goin on about The Ivy too. I heard it was expensive but i just cheked their site. Doesnt seem that bad...
Westfield shopping centre isn't all that. The rents must be horrendously expensive as the shops are tiny. Better off sticking to West End as you'll see more rather than be inside an anonymous mall.
One tip for being in London - take the time to look up now and again as some of the buildings are splendid and you don't normally get to see them if all you are doing is looking at shops/pavement/buskers/muggers/immigrants etc
