problem with my xr2i
basicly i new it had the problem just want to get it solved asap
you start it up starts up fine & everything then after leaving it say 5-10minutes idleing the oil light comes on then you turn it off then turn it back on and its fine for another 5minutes
i no the filter in the sump are prone to blocking but just need a few ideas in my mind before she goes to my work on the weekend
my dads mechanic said its possibly the oil filter blocked or the oil pressure switch ? something like that
anything else you guys could help with to get some ideas in my mind
also where is the oil pressure switch on the engine ?
thanks for anyone who does reply

take the bulb out, then sell it
just kidding mate. i think the oil pressure switch is next to the oil filter on the back of the block. no idea what the prob is though.

try changing the low oil pressure switch, there cheap enough.
What oil are you using? Is it in good condition? when was it last changed?
It could be that the oil pickup tube is partially blocked, but I would have thought that would show itself right away. Worst case is that the oil is taking longer to drain back to the sump due to a blockage.
Does the engine sound normal when the light is on? or does it start knocking?

the car sounds fine minus the tappets needing doing which is on my list but want to get the dam oil light to stop i ran it for about 20minutes earlier and the oil light didt come on once so switch or blockage it seems to me would it be ideal too run engine flush through it or isit pointless ?
thanks for all your help guys im new to car engines so it really does help
I dont trust oil flush, as its thinner then oil to begin with, let alone once it gets hot!
A mate once ran with this oil flush and his engine sounded like a knitting machine! that was enough to convince me not to use the stuff. But thats just my opinion.
Do an oil and filter change, then another in say, 5000miles/6 months time, which ever is first and see how the oil is then.
The first oil change will help to remove any sludge or deposits already in the engine, not that modern engine suffer too much from sludge etc due to most oils being of decent quality!
