Default Golf VR6 for free!!

We've just been given an L reg golf VR6 (2.8) which needs a new head gasket and we were wondering if it would make a good track car?

We've currently got a stripped L reg Clio 1.8 16v which seems to hold its own fairly well at snetterton and bedford (well, on the bends at least!) and didn't know if the golf would be too heavy.

Anyone got and thoughts/past experience of these?

IMO No

They are nose heavy and dont handle well. I'd stick with developing the clio

The Clio would make the better track car - VR6 would handle Ok if it was stripped out but to get decent handling from one you need to poly bush them and fit decent ARB's & suspension.
