Default Giving up

Hello chums, as the title says really I am toying with giving up RS ownership, mainly due to lack of time at the mo. As some of you know I currently have a 93 Gloss Black Escos which is currently being stripped as I wanted to restore it. So Im now toying with the idea of selling her on so someone else can get her back to her former glory.

As I say this is just an idea at the mo, so nothing is set in stone. Basically I want some ball park figures with regards to how much I should ask as the car is no longer complete... Well it no longer has an interior carpet and is in a semi stripped state.

The car has covered 76K and is gloss black. I dont believe it has the best history in the world as it was VIC back in 95, but the car drove fine back in the day and I really enjoyed it.

Anyway, as the car stands the fuel tank has been removed from the car, along with the interior which I still have. The car is complete apart from headlights and a front splitter.

it needs some minor welding doing to it around the seat belt mounting points (This was done by someone but not to a very good standard)

The car does run and always fires first time, if a battery is connected. It is standard in power but comes with a 03 fuel pump, grp A coil, Bailey header tank and breather and a bailey type swirl pot. I also have a set of dark greens and 3 bar map sensor which have never been fitted. It has a scorpion exhaust, which needs new rubber mounts.

I think it will need some of the electrics doing as when I got it back from the body shop the rev counter wasnt work along with the fuel gauge...they worked before I sent it in, but as i described in the resto page I created, it was in there for quite a long time.

It currenty sits on freshly powder coated 18" OZ Super Tourismo's.

I do have photos of it as it stands in the resto room... I just havent had time to work on it <---- tears .....would be a good project for someone who is handy with a welder and has some time. If it was me I would have aeroquiped all the fuel lines and either refurbed the calipers or changed for AP. The whale tail has been removed and repainted, and the boot lid is pretty mint with no rust.

This isnt a for sale post as of yet, but if someone could just give me a ball park figure it would be appreciated... as I say the car needs sorting so Im not looking for mega bucks... and any reasonable offers might be accepted.

Obviously this car has been off the road for a long time, about 7 years, so if someone was interested they would have to bear this in mind.

I will return to the Escos scene one day , but at this time I think its going to be a case of bonjour to it all.

Neil

Surely if your 7 years in, you'll miss it. I know I've had mine 7 years also, so its not like any money is owed on it, mines only been off the road since Aug 07 but nearly ready, another month or so. I know from speaking to others that have sold theirs most buy another, so for me I'm going to save myself the hassle and just keep it. It can be hard but just keep at it. Thats just my opion though, good luck whatever you do. Plus being in Essex there's lots of help around you.

Seems a shame to chuck the towel in half way through mate, in this climate a partially stripped in need of welding escos won't be worth a great deal I'm afraid.

Can't you just put it back together then sell it, you'll get a much better return.

If you really have had enough then pm me what you're after for it as I may have it off you.

Cheers

Hmmmm I think your best bet would be either break it.....(But you already say you have no time to fix it...)
Or as stated put it back together and sell it whole, but that'd mean MOT'ing it etc...
If you were closer I'd try and offer you a swap!
My car was off the road for 4 years, 90% of the time I wish I'd never started it and sold it on without touching it in the first place, THE main reason i didn't sell it in a semi finished state is that it would be worth half as much. It's back on the road now as of last week, just needs a few bits of paint to be mint again.
Good luck!
(And I hope no one removes this post....)

I know what you are all saying, and to be honest I really dont want to get rid.... The problem is time with me. I have applied for a new job at work and if I get it I seriously wont get time to work on it.. The most days off I will get a month will be about 2 or 3 , and I would rather be doing something with the family then stuck under the car... boody nightmare

I know it wont be worth a great deal in its current condition as I would say it needs a few grand spending on it to get her back on the road. But I would rather see it go to someone who could get it back on the road then sitting in the garage for months on end slowly rotting away. So would 6.5k - 7k be asking too much for it in peoples oppinions?

Well the piccys are on my resto thread if anyone is interested.. still is in that condion with regards to being stripped... My feeling is , If anyone wanted to make a ball park offer subject to viewing, then I would probably consider... I need the cash really so no swaps... which is a shame as thats a blinding looking saph Rog.
