Default First Sign Of Getting Old! I've bought a Volvo

Hi All

It's official my life is now over!! I have gone and bought a Volvo!!!!!

http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk...leRegLetter=04

So not only will I have to let the RS go! I had to accept defeat on getting a 3 door car all together!!

What was your first Sign of getting old?

Sorry! I forgot to tell you, the main reason behind choosing a Volvo is my Mrs is due to give birth in the next 6 weeks and I wanted something safe.

shame you have to sell the RS, but needs must, you'll forget al abou the RS once the little one has arrived

i dont mean this in a horrible way, but for the money you've spent on that Volvo surely you could have got a decent Audi Avant or BMW Tourer?

mark, I used to work for Volvo dealership and was always driving different cars all over the country. I used to like the S40/V40 classic sport 1.9D quite a lot. I even manged to aquire one as my "runabout" for a while at work.Personally I think they look smart and off the top of my head I cant remember any common problems with them. If you have any questions about it I still know all the lads very well so I can speak to them for you.

Good Question, I have been looking into buying a car like this for a long time and i think if you take into account the car has a spec list as long as your arm then pound for pound it's better value than any BMW Or Audi.

Look what you have made me do!! I'm justifying getting old lol.

The car has heated leather, Xenon’s, climate, and 50 MPG you can't get for Ł5500 on any BMW or Audi.

Thanks for the offer dude, I failed to mention I too am a Volvo trained Master Tech. Small World!! I have been out of the trade for 4&1/4 years now mate, when the XC90 went onto fiber optic cables I thought Fook that, time to go lol.

The v40 of this age suffered from High pressure pump failure, This would have been done under warranty also you may recall the drive belt used to fail because of the alternator?
plus the Climate control unit used to fail but other than that they are bomb proof.

What do they drive like after a re-map?

I actually like the old Volvos, especially the 240 and 740/60 style.

I have a V70R manual, had it for nearly 3 yrs & its been perfect, really comfy & go like shit off a shovel & sticks like shit to a blanket even on wet roads you can take liberties as its got the Haldex AWD adjustable suspension. I used to have a 850R great car.

Fair enough.

I just remember the post when you crashed the Volvo into the truck, weren't you putting on your make-up or something.

Joke BTW, I know it wasn't your fault.

No Volvo's really are cool, someone i know has a manual 850R saloon & it runs 117mph terminals at the pod, only internal engine mods are stronger Pauter rods & ported head, even runs standard headgasket at 1.5bar, try running that through a standard Cossie H/gasket.
