rite people i need help fast, so if anyone has any knowledge on these i would be grateful for any information. the car runs away perfect no problems then without reason it will just cut out and wont restart, if i leave the car for a few hours go back and it runs like a dream again, this happens maybe once a week i have no idea what to try now? im getting my freind to come along tomorrow with the diagnostic machine.. any info please....

 

When it cuts out does it go straight off like turning the key or splutter/cough?

 

it gives a kind of splutter maybe 10 minutes before then it just stops, no warning or spluttering it just cuts out

 

I think your best bet is see what fault codes are logged and go from there to be honest.

 

The thing you need to do is to ascertain whether the fuelling or sparks have stopped when it conks out, would be amazed if diagnostics told you anything useful on this.

hey well my mate couldnt get out with the machine tonight so i took out the crank and cam sensors and sleaned everything i could see under the bonnet and the car is running like a dream at the moment the camshaft was very dirty!! so hopefully it mite be allrite now???!!!

 

Common fault, camshaft sensor, but thats what it sounds like anyway (camshaft or crankshaft sensor). Use a spurious one from somwhere like KMS, i did my dads a few years ago. HTH.
