I am such a tit!!
Went and got the wifes Golf MOT'd yesterday (which it incidentally passed with flying colours and only 2 minor advisories). I was with my brotehr in law to be and we were heading out to Hayes to a car Hi-Fi shop to pick up a couple of bits. Half way there the missus text me. I'd forgotten to tax the other car. What a prat, now I've got to wait until tomorrow to sort it

You can do it online today, and they send the disc out to you, if you get stopped, the police can still check and it will show you are taxed, but just waiting for the disc!

Mr S1. Yup that would be it
Maria, I know but I can still get a fine for failure to display a valid tax disc whether I technically have one or not.

If you tax your vehicle online you are allowed to drive it immediately as they allow you 5 days grace now if you tax online or by phone
And before anyone says thats bullshit - its FACT!

Stoo - it has been implemented since the day the online taxing was.
All the copper has to do, is a quick check, and the database will be updated as soon as your payment is accepted to the tax people.

Hopefully not. Suppose the difference would have been that the police could check there and then while the traffic warden couldn't. Either way, I'm getting my 60 bangers back! Woo!

At least if he goes there tomorrow he'll walk out with it in his hand. And more importantly it's keeping the Post Office in business.

Even if he orders it online right now its effectively "in his hand" anyway, as you get grace until its arrived by post(as above)
