What sort of immobliser is it as the std ford one simply detects a chip in the key, so confused about you finding it fiddly.

Hi Tabetha, Its located in the centre console, seperate from the main key. Insert small dongle first, wait for red light to stop flashing then start car ( or ignition on ). Managed it almost first time this morning. Perhaps I just need to get used to using it, but its driving me mad at the moment !
Thanks for the reply

The small dongle you are using may be worn or more likely the actual small immobilizer port that you insert the dongle isn't making a clean contact. It's probably one of those Cobra things isn't it? Might take you some time getting used to it mate or just rip it out completely and go for a Cat 1 Toad or Clifford.

I was thinking about taking it out, or bypassing it, keen to know if anyone else has done the same. Your'e right about the small contacts being worn, thats why I sitting there fiddling with it sometimes. I looked a right dork on the busy garage forecourt on Friday night !

Rip it out and and get a Toad ai616, although the std immobiliser is quite good, but cat 1 brings another alarm with it.

I've seen one, well my one did not like splashing through 3 feet deep water, at 25mph, water came over bonnet completely and a few drops found thier way throught the rubber grommet halves on the main unit C5T2, but dried out and all was well again, was a lot deeper than I thought!!

Thanks for all the replys. My son has just fitted a Toad ( not sure which model ) to his Pug 306. Will look at that next weekend. Don't feel such a dork now, knowing others have had the same problems.
Thanks

Yep still works perfect one year on, luckily I got to it straight away before any joints got corroded, but sprayed with water dispersant as well, then left in front of fan heater for an hour just to be sure.
