HELP! Keep my FRS or buy a scoob?
Most folk here might say Focus as they have big blinkers
BUT... i have the chance to swap my focus for a 2003 Jap STI, 34k miles, standard bar coilovers and 18s. See it in the for sale section.
I got the focus cheap and £500 on top might buy the car.
What do y'all reckon?

Wold it help if i said my frs was 7.5k so the scoob might cost me 8k + service etc i've done on the focus?
I'm not 100% on value of these thats why its so hard. I've been told 10-11k is not unreasonable!
On the flip side i love my focus to bits and have no reason to swap other than financial benefit"

Chop,
HAVE A DRIVE FIRST!
You have to ask yourself why the Scooby owner would do a deal if the STi is such a better car than the FRS
. You might find it is, but I would want a test drive to do a back to back comparison, and see what YOU think.

Are they "boring"?? tbh this is an everyday car and it only has to be quickish and cool which i'll let the scooby be

The guy says his wife doesnt like it and wants a smaller hot hatch. She drives it most.
He may well see this post and reply!
I'm tempted.
I'd take the Subaru as overall it's probably an eaiser car to live with - and possibly if there's any additional family members to consider.
I'm not sure I agree about it having financial benefits as they are depreciating pretty heavily at the moment whereas the FRS seems pretty stable.
I own a Scoob and I love to drive it - hated the image etc that surrounded them and said I'd never own one years ago. What a difference driving them makes to that opinion tho.
Go for it, I doubt you'd ever look back.

. Hers is only a PPP'd UK300 as well
.
does the Scooby come with the rally jacket option
Keep the FRS imho, its a more mature car. Unless you want to be down with the kids in McDonalds talking about the Saxo's they all used to own before they became rally drivers
then the Scoobys the car for you

The larger Tax increases will now mainly affect cars from 2006 onwards.
That's according to the government website.
Lol so true, my mate has had 3 scooby 2.5 sti's and the main thing he boasted about was his rally jackets

i can't stand the way scoobys feel just all plasticy and no real character not my cup of tea, in the end he blown the engines on all three cars and yes he was using high octane fuel
Can't see the pics as I'm at work but I can understand your thinking as I was considering one of these up until recently. IF your just doing it for financial reasons then maybe that's a bit of a gamble as what you make up in money you'll lose in driving pleasure! Is there no one you know that has one you can "borrow" to give it a good thrash to see if you like it??? I thought you hated 4WD cars anyway, but I guess with the FRS being FWD there's not alot of difference in your mind.

rog have a look from home its a nice car!
i dont "hate" 4x4 thats for sure.
my everyday car doesnt matter anyway
Have you driven the two to compare?
I'm a Ford Fanatic to the core and really like the Focus RS even if it's not really one of my favourites, but anyone who's driven a Focus RS and a Twin Scroll Impreza and thinks the FRS even comes close would be a very strange person indeed as far as I'm concerned...

The inceases were supposed to be applied this year but they have been deferred for a year. I was surprised when I retaxed my FRS recently that it hadnt gone up so checked on the DVLA website, the increased prices come in to play next year IIRC

Chop, do you really want people looking in their mirrors thinking U R A BUS

Financially the FRS will be the winner, pleasure wise the Scooby will prolly float your boat more, but you'll then realise that you prefer it to your cossie as well and it'll make you sell your cossie too. So stay away from the evil piece of junk

You appear to have a picture of a MK4 Escort in your avatar, so what do you look for in a car? Rust?

yes they are quickish they do around 18 mpg 14 mpg if your really booting and thats out of 3 different cars tested, i would not say reliable my mate has blown 3 engines but used them hard ,they really don't like to be redlined a lot, most scoobie owners just use the low down torque to get to speed
