she must have been bad generally.. but under what grounds can she have been fired?

Does seem a little harsh.
But on the otherhand, she was working for a "small, close-knit family company" and had been there only 3 weeks. If I had my own company, and was paying someone out of my own pocket - I'd want them to be motivated, interested and determined to progress the business forward. If she is bored after only 3 weeks she probably is not right for the job and should go.

it might have been a 3 month probation, and the comment used in part of the dismissal? they still should not have used it though... whats said outside of work is not works business... while you are at work you are representing them, when you are at home you should be able to slate them within reason without comeback...
People that post anything and everything of their private life on unsecure social networks are stupid cunts imo! Plenty people been bitten by being caught saying stuff they shouldnt!

my brother works for a LARGE gambling company, and one of his colleagues wrote about one of the MD's something like " i cant stand mr bloggs hes a big fat scottish cunt "
so the MD rung facebook up and asked them to edit it, so they changed it to " i cant stand mr bloggs hes a big fat cunt "

Sorry, but after the amount of stories of people being caught out on Facebook why would you put anything to do with work?
I also got told by a company manager that they check what times people use Facebook as it indicates if people are using the company PC's to log in.
Just can't do anything these days as companies are happy to sack people to either save money or employ someone better at cheaper wages due to recession.

Its her own fault tbh & she has no-one to blame but herself but she is now on every news station & in all the papers being paid ££££ for her story so is getting her 5 minutes of fame which is probably what she wanted to begin with
Anyone watching the news on ITV1 just now can see all the people "contacting" her that don't know her to offer sympathy (and to get a bit of the 5 minutes of fame action) and then the report ends saying she now wants to get her dream job in media or fashion - well i'm sure being on national press will get her recognised now - look out for her on big brother in a year or so's time

Last company i worked for you had to sign a non disclosure agreement meaning no discussion relating to your employer on things like internet forums, social sites, etc, etc - if you broke that rule you could expect to get sacked
