Is it really that good a car!i dont doubt it looks and sounds awesome!!But a 0-60mph of 5.9sec aint exactly earth shattering,top end is very respectable of 163mph,but with a base price of 25k is too me well over priced,considering that the new subaru wrx is only 17.5k!now that too me as a far to big price gap for its main competitor!

totally agree the subaru is a aweful looking motor!not sure on the top end of it,but its 0-60 time s 5.8 but i still say 25k is too much for a focus let alone nearly 30k for a top spec

 

Not in the eyes of the press and public. they have sold shedloads and always come out very well on the comparative tests

You could say Ł30k for a golf or a 1 series bmw is too much but they sell shedloads, 25k for the focus is well in the ballpark for that kind of blistering performance from a practical family car.

Think about what other new cars are its competitors with similar performance/specs ?

I think they are a nice looking car and i think they will sell loads.

 

Put them up against there competitors and there not quick. They do sound / drive good but they don't hold there own against similiar cars.

A VXR astra is what I would say is the ST's main competitor and the VXR is alot quicker.

Have to agree with this...totally over priced no matter how good they sound and look.

Ford have probably taken so many orders as die hards are trying to revive the RS badge.

 

The VXR is not a lot quicker......the facelift is the same time as a vxr round the ring as I posted the other week

the ST was also better specced and cheaper when released....and the fact they sold so many means they didnt have to discount them to 14,995 like the vxr's to get rid of them

I would imagine the same driver round the same track in both cars and the VXR would be quicker.

Don't get me wrong I don't think the ST is a bad car there just not that quick and I think the RS will be the same.

Imagine away then, there is very little to choose between them on track and in the real world i'd have a look at how the focus makes its boost and it's torque curve, then I 'd go drive one and a vxr and come back and tell us which is the better road car for a daily drive

Fact is the VXR has more top end but the focus has a sweet chassis masses of low down grunt

Both quick cars...........besides half a second of performance difference over laps of 2 mins or under have you compared the spec and build quality and interiors of the vxr and ST

Its not even a comparison, the Ford is much much nicer and better built

 

Bit a golf holds it money alot better,a BMW for some reason is a name that people are willing to pay extra for,a focus in targeted and the family person just like the astra and too a extent the subaru!the evo i think is aimed at the next level up of people in terms of earnings!lets be honest i would never in a million years pay 27k for a mid spec focus rs!specially when with in a year its prob going to be worth 13k!just look at the first focus RS prices and these were a limited production!

A standard cosworth is 6.5 secs , you see a few hitting 3.5 now/4 secs so once its had a few mods im sure it will go alot faster

this is not about cosworths etc!although actually the 4x4 cosworth sierra was 6.6 2wd sap 6.1 although autocar claimed 5.9 escos 5.7!please remember these were DETUNED for the road !i am just saying its alot for the car

I would say 25K is overpriced for a fwd hothatch when you think what type of cars are near that price range now second hand , 996 turbos,360 ,choice of any evo or wrx you want.

ST was well recieved and sold well... unlike the Astra...

also the RS is getting storming reviews in press and on TV from well repected journos and reviewers.
