I would say that's the factory where it's been developed, built and tested, not where it's going to be finally mounted inside a wind tunnel.

Stop the belt very quickly at 180mph and the car will soon come down

cool

it's obviously just rigged up so that you can see it and would be built flush with the floor when installed in a wind tunnel

looks like its more for aerodynamics, the video makes no reference to measuring power of the vehicle

Aye it literally a rolling road and not a dynamometer.
Wonder if they can create side winds, cambered road conditions, brake tests etc. Probably do very little with regards to handling testing.....seems a bit pointless to me.

could it be to test gear ratios to obtain optimum ratios for maximum top speed?

No,as the car's wheels are'nt turning the rolling road, its the rolling road turning the wheels. The car's engine would'nt even be turned on when run on one of these.Regards,Micky

Hi All

Not a regular poster but read a lot of the threads. Great source of info.

In wind tunnel testing the aerodynamics of a car are effected by the movement of the road under the car and also by the motion of the wheels. In standard aerodynamic work there is probably no need for a fully moving "road" as the difference would be small. I believe it has to do with testing ground effect and under body air flow. The world of racing every little advantage is required and so if the aerodynamics is effected by the road motion then more than likely they will test it. If I get anymore info I'll post.

My two cent worth

Dave
